Just got this update today.
Seems BattleCON is getting Legacy as a promotional character to play as, with the rest of the Freedom Five as Strikers in his deck.

Wow... Really can't wait for that now. I was already going to get it as War of Indines is already fun. That's going to be a lot of fun though, I wonder how Legacy will play?
Yay, two of my favorite games coming together! Awesome!
So, is this game pretty cool? It looks like fun, but is it easy to understand? I'm not very good at 2D fighters, so I don't know how well I would take to a card game format. But I really want that Legacy stuff...
BattleCon is a very easy game to learn, but a had one to master. It brings the feel of a fighting video game without that button mashing madness, so strategy becomes even more so important. I definitely recommend picking it up.
This game looks great and has a glowing review from Tom Vasel. The crossover SotM stuff also looks really cool. My hesitation is that I play most games with my wife and I am not sure that she would be into playing a fighting game like this. I know that Devastation has a lot of different game modes but I just have a feeling I would be playing this by myself, which wouldn't be fun.
Same here. I'd love another character-driven, fun card game but am not sure if this is the one. I'll be printing out the free stuff to give it a try, though.
Let me know how it is.
I may wait to see what Project Tungsten is before dropping more into Kickstarter. I have a Kickstarter addiction! I also don't see when battleCON is supposed to ship.
Looking at the page, it says sometime in July. I kind of want it, but I'm also tight for money right now… Curses! There's even a solo play mode…
I'd like to see more on solo play because I guarantee you my wife would be out on this one.
We could always have meet ups online like we do for SotM everyone once and awhile. It's fairly fast game, taking less than 30 minutes to play. Plus it has a 15 turn limit, so not long at all. Can't say much about the solo mode as that is new to Devastation of Indines and isn't present in War of Indines.
I'm soooo on the edge of pledging for this. But it just seems so damn expensive for what you get, at least with international postage anyway. I caved in and pledged on Up Front so a third $130+ pledge in the space of two months is a bit raw, even with selling off a lot of my old games to raise funds for the new ones. It just wouldn't be worth going for Devastation alone, $80 is way too much no matter how rave the reviews may be.
I'm not terribly keen on the graphic design or paucity of artwork either, but that's probably just >G spoiling us. I mean 578 cards, each with individual art, compared to roughly two dozen pieces of art over half as many cards? Unless I'm missing something here. I'm not looking for FFG overkill, and granted not everyone keeps a Rebottaro in the cupboard, but just a little bit of variation on the cards would add more life to the design.
Some parts of the design on Indines just look a little lazy too, like where the "N/A" overhangs the flash (why not leave it blank, or use a single dash?), or the special move card just being a greyscale of the character art. Yeah, it doesn't affect gameplay but I do like games to look nice as part of the whole experience
@*!% it, I still convinced myself to back it. No more games this year! And it's not even half way through January...
Oh wow. I really want to get this new game. I love 2D fighters. When I heard the words "like Mortal Kombat", I was sold. But $50 for the new game AND a promotional Legacy character amongst other great free things? I don't know if I can afford it right now... But the Kickstarter has less than two weeks left!
What do I do?!
Sell some blood, plasma, and any other bodily fluid you will be willing to part with.
I went back and forth on this for days, and I finally just went all in for the game and the original! I am such a sucker for kickstarters.
Based on comments from the creator, they will be updating War again later to make it up to par with Devastation. Reviews have complained that War has not very good art. I was going to get both War and Devastation but I will instead now just get Devastation and if needed wait for a revised or 2nd ed. War. Besides, Devastation has at least 24 characters not counting promos, so there should be more than enough game in this box.
yeah, I eventually did the same. There is an upgrade kit going out with this kickstarter that fixes the errata, but not the art. It's a bit annoying that things aren't really made clear but if you dig around various forum posts the designer is blowing on about clearing out the old stock before starting the reprint. Fair enough but it felt a bit off that they haven't been up front about the situation to potential backers. There really ought to be a discount on these if they are clearance as it's a bit nonsensical to pay full retail for an obsolete product. Especially when the value of second hand copies will plummet after the new edition comes out. Cancelled my backing as I know I will eventually get Devastation and all the bits much more cheaply from a retailer than from the kickstarter.
I'm getting both War and Devastation. I'm willing to give the old game a shot, and if it doesn't work out I'll get the second edition and give the core to a friend. The demo they put up for Devastation is a lot of fun, and I'm definitely looking forward to the full game.
