Visionary, Fanatic, Haka, Tempest, and Ra vs. Mad Bomber Blade in Insula Primalis
Blade's starting side went very quickly, with Tempest's Lightning Slash and Ra's Fire Blast both coming out by turn 2. After he flipped, however, our heroes started taking a lot more damage, and things were looking very grim as the Visionary fell to Hasten Doom. However, the ever-resourceful Ra led our heroes to the "shelter" of a Volcanic Eruption and shielded them with the Flesh of the Sun God. The Mad Baron, on the other hand, had no such protection, and was incinerated.
All of my surviving heroes were in the single-digit hit point range, with my team of 5 having a grand total of 23 hp left.... Too close for comfort.
The Freedom Five vs. Mad Bomber Blade in Megalopolis
This one was really tense, and felt like we were closer to losing than we actually were. Legacy was heavily wounded, but still active and leading his team to victory. Again, Heroic Interruption, Take Down, Stun Bolt, and Hypersonic Assault let us last longer than we should have against the Mad Bomber, and Wraith & Bunker's kept the damage going against him, giving Tachyon a chance to finish him off with a Lightspeed Barrage.
Young Legacy, Rook City Wraith, Super Scientific Tachyon, Unity, and G.I. Bunker vs. Mad Bomber Blade in Megalopolis.
This one was still a bit tense, but less in doubt than the previous battle. Our heroes just had Blade outwitted and outclassed. Everyone kept up fairly consistent damage, thanks to G.I. Bunker pointing out the weak points in Blade's force field.
Visionary, Haka, Tempest, Fanatic, and Ra vs. Mad Bomber Blade in Megalopolis
This one hurt. A lot.
His bombs hurt us a lot, but we soldiered through it, flipping him, but then he started picking us off. Tempest was first to fall, followed by Visionary. Things were looking up, with Fanatic having prepared a Wrathful Retribution which would surely finish the Mad Baron, but he decided to Hasten Doom...3 times in a row, incapacitating both Fanatic and Haka, and leaving Ra teetering on the brink. The Sun God staggered, but did not fall, and Blade was on the recieving end of a Flame Spike, Blazing Tornado, Drawn to the Flame combo which finished him.
Ending health: Visionary 0, Haka 0, Tempest 0, Fanatic 0, and Ra 1.
Ouch. I knew this was going to be painful going in, but I always love a challenge.
My first attempt didn't go very well. I miscalculated how much damage I was doing and put a 5th citizen into the trash, so Dawn flipped, and I couldn't keep enough citizens in play to make her flip back. I lost Wraith, Tachyon, and Legacy in short order, but Absolute Zero & Bunker were hanging on thanks to their equipment (FA, NPCU, IT, Heavy Plating, & Maintenance Unit), then a Devastating Aurora popped up. Our brave heroes were wiped out the next turn.
My second attempt fared much better. My citizen control was much cleaner this game, and Dawn never flipped. I though I made a serious mistake later on, when a Hypersonic Assault killed Citizen Dare (I had forgotten that both Inspiring Presence and an Obsidian Field were in play). Luckily, I had miscounted citizens, and there were only 3 others in the trash... *sigh of relief*
I then focused all my firepower on Dawn, with Summer & Winter contributing by shooting Zero. Wraith stayed on Infrared Eyepiece duty to keep nastier citizens & auroras away. Legacy was on Motivational Charge duty, forgoing Galvanize to try to keep everyone up - and to not kill off citizens.
Final HP tally: Legacy 1, Wraith 1, Tachyon 7, Absolute Zero 6, Bunker 7
Stuck out on a jobsite last night and this morning, so I got a whole mess of plays in. Too many games for full session reports, but there was this highlight:

...with 14 Bursts in the trash and two Obsidian Fields in play. She then Experimented into a Sucker Punch for the win.
Rook City Wraith, Fanatic, and Ra vs. Citizen Dawn in Insula Primalis.
Tough matchup. My first two attempts were close losses.
My third attempt started less auspiciously. A quick Devastating Aurora undid all the buildup I'd done in the first couple turns, and the game continued to become more grim for our heroes. I was at single-digit hp on all heroes, and Dawn had 52 life, with Citizens Autumn, Anvil, and Blood in play. The Enraged T-Rex had been making my life difficult for some time, but I had decided to focus fire on Dawn in hopes to catch up in the damage race. It wasn't working....
On my last turn, with Imbue Fire and 2 Obsidian Fields in play, Wraith used Throwing Knives to kill Anvil, then damage the T-Rex and Dawn (48). She followed that up with Razor Ordnance to Dawn's face (42). Fanatic, at 2 hp, used Wrathful Retribution on Dawn (11), followed by Exorcism (3). Ra used Drawn to the Flame to finish Dawn. Too close.
I've gotten in several plays in the last couple days, but haven't had a chance to write session reports for all of them (too much other stuff going on). However, I took down Advanced Dawn in her home base on the second go-around.
Young Legacy, Wraith, Bunker, Absolute Zero, and Haka vs. Omintron in Silver Gulch, 1883
This wasn't really an exciting game, since it just involved getting out my combos & using them to win through simple attrition. Omnitron did pull one Sedative Flechettes, which slowed me down a bit, but it was just a hiccup overall.
Final HP totals: Young Legacy 6, Wraith 20, Bunker 26, Absolute Zero 21, Haka 27
Game 1: Legacy, Wraith, G.I. Bunker, Tachyon, and Absolute Zero vs. Mad Bomber Blade in Ruins of Atlantis
This one felt tougher than it probably was. Blade came out swinging, and took down Wraith and Tachyon before we could finish him. The finishing turn involved Legacy Galvanizing the heroes, Wraith & Tachyon making Zero play Cold Snap & Focused Apertures, G.I. Bunker firing a 12-point Omni-Cannon, Zero hitting Blade with 2 Impales, a Cold Snap, and a quick shot of Thermodynamics passed through the Isothermic Transducer. After all that, Blade still stood strong, but was then ambushed by a Kraken to end the battle.
Game 2: Rook City Wraith, Super Scientific Tachyon, Tempest, Unity, and Ra vs. Mad Bomber Blade in Ruins of Atlantis
This game went much more smoothly than the previous one, even though Blade brought out his Backlash Field in his first action. A well-timed Bee Bot ended the threat of the Field fairly quickly, though. The heroes put out a ton of consistent damage, with Tempest and Ra vying for the title of most damage dealt. However, neither one of them got the finishing blow. Turns out Blade staggered into a less stable part of the Ruins, and was buried in a Hallway Collapse....
Freedom Five vs. Mad Bomber Blade in Wagner Mars Base
I was soundly defeated the first couple times through. I wasn't drawing anything which could do damage, or Blade had 2 Living Force Fields up, or Backlash Fields forever.... Anyway, I lost several times in significant ways.
My last attempt however, I was able to avoid all of that, and get some timely Hypersonic Assaults, Throat Jabs, Heroic Interruptions, or Meteor Swarms, so I avoided a lot of the damage Blade was throwing around. So, when he finally hit my heroes with a 19-point fire blast, they all survived. The Five were able to do enough damage to flip him that turn, and Zero followed up with a 20-point Coolant Blast, bringing the Baron to half health immediately. The rest of the fight was just controlling his damage until Tachyon could get a Lightspeed Barrage to connect.
Haka, Ra, Tempest, Unity, and Visionary vs. Mad Bomber Blade in Wagner Mars Base
This one started off rough, but the heroes were able to prevail - mostly on the strength of Tempest, Haka, and Ra. Those three kept a fairly constant stream of damage going, with Tempest occasionally providing ongoing removal. Visionary mostly fed cards to Unity, and Unity dropped Bots who mostly lasted 0-3 turns. Nothing stands out for highlights from this match. It was a basic dps race, which the heroes managed to win.
Legacy, Wraith, Tachyon, Tempest, and Ra vs. Omnitron in Insula Primalis
This may have been the easiest fight I've ever had against advanced Omnitron. Legacy started with Inspiring Presence, Wraith with Throwing Knives and Micro Targeting Computer, Tachyon with Hypersonic Assault, and Ra with...well, Ra. Omnitron drew an EPE first turn, and it didn't even do a single point of damage. By the time Omnitron pulled a Sedative Flechettes, he was already below 35 hp. The final turn, Omnitron fell to Wraith's Throwing Knives, leaving behind a single EPE for the heroes. Tachyon had Pushing the Limits in play, 2 LSBs, and 7 bursts in her trash - with Galvanize and an Obsidian Field in play.
Final HP totals: Legacy 12, Wraith 12, Tachyon 6 (after taking 4 from Pushing the Limits on her last turn), Tempest 13, and Ra 14
Legacy, Wraith, Tachyon, Tempest, and Ra vs. Cosmic Omnitron in Insula Primalis
This one felt like I was just hanging on by the skin of my teeth the whole game. A promising setup got more or less erased by Sedative Flechettes, and Omnitron wasn't shy about heaping damage on the heroes - though he wasn't fond of taking damage, so he played 2 Adaptive Plating Subroutines. Luckily, my team had a good mix of damage types, and we were able to wear him down slowly.
Final HP totals: Legacy 4, Wraith 6, Tachyon 8, Tempest 6, Ra 6
Finished the Voss in Atlantis matches, on my second try. Unity went down after Voss pulled two Psi-Weavers & a Bionaut in the initial draw, with a Forced Deployment as his first play. The Stalwart came in shortly thereafter, with AZ not able to do a whole lot because he'd discarded a mostly useless opening hand to kill Toxic Seaweed.
A Punish the Weak/Rampage from Haka got things more or less under control after we had the flagship down, helped by a Legacy Ring/Motivational Charge combo.
Have I mentioned here before that Voss is my favorite of the base set villains? 'Cuz he is.
