I just realized that SotM doesn’t have any heroes that end in “-man”, “-woman”, “-girl”, “-boy”. I wonder if that is intentional.
It does have things that end in "-bot" though.
I'm glad the names are more interesting than that. I've always thought that something like "The Bat" sounds better than Batman.
And why is a Spider-Man hyphenated when Batman isn't?
I think Spider-man was originally hyphenated, but you can also find it dehyphenated.
Stan Lee wanted his name to look different compared to Superman. http://www.blastr.com/2013-7-16/little-known-sci-fi-fact-why-stan-lee-put-hyphen-spider-man
On the villain side of things we do have "The Chairman" but that's the only instance in the game I can think of where that's the end of the name.
There's a couple of other bits and pieces.
On the villain side we also have the group The Aeon Men.
With gender titles we have Mister Fixer, Miss Information and Man-Grove (which is probably just man as is in Human) but Tachyon is specfically designated the quickest woman alive, I think that's a play on "Flash- The fastest man alive" rather than calling out gender.
I prefer it this way. The names are more evocative.
It's also similar to how I tend to name my superhero and supervillain characters.
Where does that group appear (by that name)?
You'll find their name associated with their picture under art assets tab here https://greaterthangames.com/downloads
There the guys The visionary is attacking in cerebal hemorrage and i think there on other cards (knyfes attack everyone card for example)that i cant remember off the top of my head
Don't know if you are referencing it, but Bob Kane based Batman on the Villain of a 1930 remake (The Bat Whispers) of a 1926 movie based on a 1920 Broadway play (both The Bat).
The story is a house with hidden treasure, a bunch of searchers, detectives and a caped murderer known as "The Bat".
The 1926 film includes ziplines with flowing cape, the cape flourishes and a great shot of him spreading his cape out infront of the full moon making what would later become the Bat-Signal.
I actually know this from being a silent film nut, I don't even like Batman. The Bat was a much better character. Power creep ruined Batman.
Oh wow, that's a nice folder.
Everybody else there has their own deck, I believe. (Mr. Chomps was not in the same folder.) Are they going to be a villain deck in the final expansion? They look awfully mook-y for that.
No idea. They've been in artwork since the original set with the Visionary. I'm guessing they will show up in an environment or minions of a villain deck.
We think those were the Art Assets from the proposed story wars game.
I really wasn't referencing that. I know very little about comic book stuff!
Today I watched the 1930s film, it was a pretty fun mystery. I saw a lot of what Phantaskippy described, the cape florishes, spread his cape out to frighten his victims, and the mood lighting, I can certainly see where the influences would be.
As a film? I already stated it was a fun mystery and I wont comment further as I don't want The Bat to go kiling for days with no zest in his work!
I really enjoyed the 1926 film. I always liked vigilante Batman vs. Mobsters much more than Super Hero Batman vs. Super Villains. He was a much better version of Dick Tracy.
