Let's say you and 3 friends were entering a tournament and had to pick a four hero team to play through multiple games in a row. Each game you would get a randomized villian and location with the easier ones removed. Which 4 heroes would you pick for a team? Who has the best odds together to take on the world?
I'd probably go Argent Adept, Tachyon, Tempest, and The Visionary.
Tempest for his massive area damage, while still being able to focus on low targets. Argent Adept for plays, powers, draws, and healing for other heroes. The Visionary for her extra draws for other heroes, twist the ether for reduce the damage the villain is doing, and the occasional deck manupulation. Tachyon to shut down damage and deal a massive damage near the end of the game.
All four can destroy Ongoings, all but The Visionary can destroy environments, and Tempest and Argent Adept have get cards back from the trash.
Argent Adept, Team Leader Tachyon, America's Greatest Legacy and Nightmist
Argent Adept, Team Leader Tachyon and America's Greatest Legacy have amazing synergy together. Both AA and Legacy can give Tachyon extra power plays, which in turn gives the whole team loads of extra cards (this really helps both AA's and Nightmist's setup time). AA and Legacy also have a lot of synergy, when Legacy gives AA an extra power, that power can cascade depending on how well AA is set up.
AA is a fantastic supporter and makes the team better, his powers also mean more than most other powers, simply because one power can actually end up triggering multiple Performs and Accompanies that add up to much more than any other power.
Nightmist is very versatile, extremely difficult to take down and really appreciates any support thrown her way. She has good damage output, deck control and survivability. Nightmist + Legacy give a good chance of being able to keep the Villain from doing much for one or more turn. She doesn't need the extra power as much as the other Heroes do, but she can use the extra draw and card plays in a huge way.
Team Leader Tachyon has great damage, some extremely useful control cards, and while some complain that she can't get as many burst cards into her discard pile as base Tachyon, I've never run into that problem. While the original often has issues getting her important cards out early thanks to an unlucky draw, or she plays so many cards that she runs out of them very quickly. TLT on the other hand halves the time it takes to get those necessary cards and all but guarentees that she won't run out of cards to play. All the while helping out the entire team. On this team in particular, she will get burst cards much faster than the base version. And she gives the team anywherefrom 4 to 12 [or more] cards a turn.
America's Greatest Legacy has almost all of the awesome damage, survivability, support and versatility of base Legacy while adding powerful synergies with TLT and AA. Any hero team without some form of Legacy is really missing out. His only weakness is deck control (though he has some powerful options there too, like Take Down.) As much as losing Galvanize hurts, on this team I prefer America's Greatest Legacy.
They have pretty good options with Ongoing and Environment destruction, great deck contol and will always have the cards they need (or be a turn or two away from them, at the most).
The Scholar, Team Leader Tachyon, Nightmist and Haka. Three fine tanks, all of which can also deal damage, and all of which work so much better with more card draw - enter TLT. There's small damage instances, large armour-breaking ones, healing, tanking, damage prevention, ongoing destruction.
This
I can't think of a better one. I'll vote for it.
Optionally Legacy for Scholar, gives you all the villain card play stopping you could want, immunity tanking and damage boosts that can make Tachyon a powerhouse. Some don't like + damage with Nightmist, but I love it.
I would replace nightmist with The Sentinels for the amazing synergy with scholar.
I wouldn’t. Nightmist is much better at environment and ongoing destruction than Tachyon is, and the Sentinels have none of that going on in their deck. Getting rid of her versatility for the sake of putting out four extremely low-HP targets strikes me as a bad bet that might pay off in some situations but not in most.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the Sentinels, but they’re really only good at putting out damage, with a secondary focus on healing that’s only slightly better than Omnitron-X’s.
Team Leader Tachyon
Argent Adept
Legacy
Tempest
Scholar / Parse / Sentinels / Naturalist
Absolute Zero, Bunker, Expatriette, DW Fixer. Very fast setup, lots of options for villain control, etc. Also, no one ever complains about these heroes on the forums.
Are you being funny? There’s a fairly large thread devoted to “fixing” Bunker; and while I personally haven’t opened my mouth about him, I will be extremely glad when the current My Turn! event is done and I’ll never have to play Dark Watch Mister Fixer again. The way he drags down the entire team is unconscionable.
You realize he can destroy his own stuff as well?
Bloody Knuckles with DW Fixer is fantastic. You get the bonus without having to suffer the penalty.
I'm amazed the Wraith hasn't been mentioned yet.
I'd go with the Wraith, Team Leader Tachyon, Legacy and Tempest.
This team is so unbeatable most of them haven't been introduced yet. Captain Cosmic, Skyscrapper, and Guise. I'll add TLT as the fourth for good measure
Edit:
Of heroes we can choose from I vote this one
You realize he can destroy his own stuff as well?[/quote]
And he’s part of the team. The entire team’s setup is delayed by his presence.
Yes and No. The advantage of DW Fixer is that he can do more damage early on. DW Fixer starts with a damage pool that requires two damage boosts for vanilla Fixer. DW Fixer gives up long term consistency for short term gain which can actually be really useful in fighting villains like Dawn and Voss where there may be DR or priority targets that you need to kill immediately early game. Also, generally, you only need one turn fora decent setup. Dual Crowbars by itself will do four damage to two targets. It's not as flexible as Dual, Harmony, and Grease Monkey, but it's just as much damage with less cards in play. I've personally never had any problems with DW Fixer. I find him a very interesting variant. It deals with a lot of criticisms people have about Mr. Fixer without just being better than the original.
Though not in round one, if he wants to actually use a style or a tool; and if he’s not the first player in rotation and it’s not his first card played, Overdrive will destroy two pieces of setup, so either everyone was just playing one-shots or they’ve been playing semi-useless cards to sacrifice that at best they never needed and won’t miss, in which case they were kind of a waste to put out in the first place, or that they do need but have multiple copies of, in which case they have to waste another round getting crap onto the board.
I’m not saying Dark Watch Mister Fixer doesn’t put out some pretty impressive damage. He does. I’m just…my play style is more about the long term than short term, and Dark Watch Mister Fixer makes the long term very long indeed; or maybe it’s more accurate to say I’m a greedy player and I want maximum profit from my cards. I dunno. I just know that if I’m going up against someone the team needs defenses in place against, or if some of the teammates need a card in play to be able to inflict damage at all like most of the promo cards for the base heroes, Dark Watch Mister Fixer grinds my gears.
It is exactly for this reason that I like to try these heroes in different team combinations. It is like getting to know the character. Personally I think DW Mr. Fixer is more versatile than vanilla Fixer, precisely because he kills stuff: It forces you to cycle through different styles and tools and additionally provides an excellent way to get rid of ongoings and items that have/may become a burden due to (upcoming) events.
