I'm working on a superhero RPG as a module for my generic RPG system. Obviously, the bulk of the work is in creating and, to an extent, balancing, the various superpowers. There are many, many kinds of superpowers, so I thought I'd ask around here and elsewhere for ideas for superpowers. What kinds of powers would you be excited to play in a superhero RPG?
Of course I already have a bunch of obvious ones like super strength and super speed, etc.
If you go to http://savagepedia.wikispaces.com/Necessary+Evil+Powers it list all the super powers listen from Savage Worlds Super Power Companion. It's a lot of different powers so you'll surely see something you might want to incoporate in your game.
Depends how complex the system is... if it is almost entirely narrative then the sky is the limit in terms of crazy powers, cool skills and so on. If it is a streamlined combat based system well there are only so many ways to do damage.
Personally I was designing a game once that used multipliers of stats. For example Enhanced might be 1.5 the stat, Inhuman might be 2x the stat, Superhuman might be 3x and Ultra would be 4x. Cosmic was the max. So a kid (3) with super strenght would be less powerful than a body builder (6) with super strenght.
Example:
Gray Girl
Brawn: 4
Brains: 6
Skill: 5
Enhanced Telekinesis(Brains). Range of Sight. Feats: Shield. Shield other. (So basically 9 Strenght TK)
Superhuman Telepathy (Brains). Range of Sight. Feats: Inflict pain. Comunicate. Confuse. Control. (So basically 18 points for Telepathy).
This could be used with die pools or pretty much any system.
Sounds slightly similar to the Nobilis system, where you have points up to five in Aspect, Dominion, and Persona, which apply to different things. Basically your character if the god of One Thing of Your Choice. So, anything...literally - Fire, Time, Trees, Socks, Blood Cells...anything at all and your powers will all focus around your chosen thing. Exactly what you can do depends on how you word various aspects of your charcter during character creation. It's a diceless system - Aspect, Persona, and Dominion are resources you must manage in order to be able to do stuff. It can be quite good fun :).
