I searched for this ruling and could not find it; my apologies if weak search-fu lead to a redundant posting.
The question, no details: Does Synaptic Interruption redirect an instance of 3 or more damage, or a total amount of three or more damage from a single card/character/power?
The wording on SI is:
"If Tachyon would be dealt 3 or more damage from a single source, you may redirect that damage to a target of your choice and destroy this card."
What constitutes a "source"? My intuition says a source is an instance of damage, but it could be argued it's a card, power, or character that is the "source."
As an example of what I'm confused about: Tachyon has SI out, and is the target of a villain card effect that causes her to take 1 cold, 1 fire, and 1 lightning. Can she redirect this, as it is "3 or more damage from one source"? Or does she have to suck up that damage because no one instance (i.e., no one "source") is 1 damage?
Thanks in advance!
