The Letters Page: Episode #276 - Writers' Room: Freedom Five #431

I have wondered if the official print stats for Adhesevist will have a fixed D4 Banter on his character sheet.
No. No he is not good at it but he tries.

I especially like that because, by the rules, everyone has a d4 Banter if they want. But because he’s really trying, it’s actually documented on his character sheet.

(Now I want to add that as part of all character creation as a way to give folks an opportunity to better flesh out their character. Something like: “You may choose a Quality or Power that your character has but is as good at as an average person. Assign a d4 to it.” )

If we were doing a different system, I would say that he has a flaw/hindrance that his banter really, REALLY stinks, and that creates a penalty to intimidation or distraction or something.

I’m going to counter-argue that the Adhesivist’s Banter is a d6, because even though it’s awful, it succeeds at distracting people a lot of the time.

Welcome to the Letters Page, with your hosts, Adam and Wager Master. I am so glad that was a bit.

I weirdly love Adam’s defense of the candy hearts, a fondness which I definitely do not share.

Guise and extremeverse Uh Yeah kid…accidentally they recreated Firefist from the second Deadpool movie.

Never a Wolverine, only an entire universe of Wolverhamptons.

I’m extremely glad Brianna Lawhawke did make the cover. I never would have guessed that she would have that suit or that hair, but they’re soooo good now that I see them.

“Tale as old as vine, branch and hand entwine, beauty and the leaf.”

Can a lawyer defend someone in court whom they’re dating? I’d think that would be a obvious conflict of interest.

It actually isn’t!

Or rather, it isn’t in the majority of jurisdictions, if you’re the defense attorney, and if the relationship is pre-existing. A defense attorney has to be on their client’s side, so while they have to disclose any relationship to the judge, there’s no worry that they’ll be biased towards their client. Many jurisdictions recommend against it, because of the risk that the lawyer will get too emotional and invested and not provide the best defense, but it’s usually legal.

You can’t start a relationship with a client, because that’s a power imbalance that you might be taking advantage of, but lawyers regularly represent family members and spouses (usually not in criminal law, but in other forms of law.)
