The New Egyptian Gods: Hathor and Sekhmet

On the Letters Page, they've teased the potential return of some of the other Egyptian God relics beyond just Ra and the Ennead.  For the most part that isn't a big deal to me, but I was reading about Hathor (the cow-headed goddess of fertility) a while back and ran across something that might be a lot of fun as a character (or a semi-villain, I suppose).

According to at least SOME of the old stories, Hathor and Sekhmet (the lioness-headed goddess of the destruction and the desert) are the same person.  In the story, Ra got mad at humanity and sent Hathor to earth in her destructive Sekhmet guise, where she did what he wanted, but then when it was time to come home her bloodlust was so strong that she refused and kept wrecking stuff.  Fearing all humanity would die at Sekhmet's claws, he mixed a vast amount of beer with blood (or possibly red hematite) and poured it out in front of Sekhmet, who drank it until she got completely wasted and passed out.  Then the gods could get her back to their home and wake her up, back in her kindly Hathor form (and with an enormous hangover, one presumes).

In the game, I imagine you could do something like with Bunker's modes, only it's two different faces of the goddess, kindly healer Hathor and wrathful destroyer Sekhmet, each with different powers and abilities, and possibly some difficulty in making the switch happen when you want it to.  (Also: Drinking problem.)

I’m all for more elaboration on the Egyptian mythos. I might refer you to my write up for Apep in the Big Villains Thread…

I've been looking at some story concepts based on kinda combining existing Sentinels egyptian myth with more real world sources.

One of my current heroes is a anesiac young woman from another universe who remembers her name as Raetchel. She Has fire powers and can fly on litteral wings of flame, but has no idea where or why she has powers. and there are lots of background story elements that i love that i'd have to work with my GM on.

You could build her a bit like muerto where she is a divided form changer with access to different powers while in her different forms

I'm currently playing with a story involving a team of ra and all four of their children (Maat, Sekhmet, Hathor, and Bastet) and the introduction of a book titled Thoth: God of Stories
