Those Long, Heedless Lashes

Nightmist isn't being coy when she flutters her Lashes.  Heedless Lash has the same sort of random-but-awesome "let's see what happens" magic as Super-Scientific Tachyon's Experiment power.

Last night I had a particularly pretty example.  Nightmist was down to 17 life (that's not bad for her, of course), had 20 cards in her trash, and a +1 damage bonus from somewhere.

She played Heedless Lash.  She drew the 4 spell value Mist-Fueled Recovery card.  That did 4+1=5 damage to her, which she reflected onto Baron Blade using her Amulet...then 4+1=5 damage to Baron Blade again...then put Mist-Fueled Recovery into play, shuffling her trash back into her deck and healing her exactly 10hp -- to leave her precisely at her full 27.  The 10 damage to the Baron set him up for Expatriette to finish him and unlock Dark Expatrriette in the Video Game.

They're not all good...I've also killed her in the past by Lashing into a second Heedless Lash and then risking an Oblivion.  But the first example was just such an elegant case of Heedess Lash's potential I thought other players might appreciate it.

Please share any other interesting experiences with this dangerous but irresitible spell!

You know you don't have to play the card that Heedless Lash draws up, right? You can either play it or put it into your hand, so there's no actual risk.

If I don't have Master of Magic, Amulet of the Elder Gods, or Starshield Necklace in hand but I do have a Heedless Lash I'll play it just for the chance to get one of them immediately in play.   Doesn't always pan out but it's great when it does

Yeah…unless you deliberately court that risk by playing an Oblivion and drawing two 4s, for example.

I may be the only one who really likes her spellbook, especially as the promo.  Oh, and I hate the ring.

I like the spellbook.  It's useful when you haven't gotten any of your healing magic and want a way to refill on cards without completely destroying your health.  The ring is... often more trouble than it's worth.  But it works well with the promo too, since you're far more likely to be taking damage only once a turn, which means that you redirect all the damage you deal towards your enemies.

The book (or Astral Premonition) are also nice to have in play when “heroes csnnot play cards” effects occur. She’s SO dependent on playing a card to be effective. They’re also handy when “you may use an extra power this turn,” since she has few powers.

Welcome to the forums!

The Tome is really nice, I use it a decent amount.  Oh, and Heedless Lash is bonkers with her promo.  As a Nightmist lover but generally gambling averse person, the promo is actually my favorite way to play her (except against Spite, of course).  Still love the orginal, but the advanced planning of DW Nightmist just does it for me

I've almost never needed the tome, and usually use it as healing or effect fodder. I've found usually I've got a surplus of spells, and what I need is the ongoings or relics -- I can't tell you how often my opening hand is something like three Oblivions and a Heedless Lash.

I need to practice more with DW Nightmist, because by the time my next turn comes up, I keep forgetting what I put on top.

With the Promo, I almost never use it early, but later in games, especially with the Amulet, DW NightMist can become card starved. It’s great for then. i use it with main NM when there’s a lack of healing, sure, but just as Often late game when there’s a lot I want to play and there’s a lot of damage increasers out… i use redirection for card plays and then the Tome for extra cards.

Astral Premonition i have never used.

I'm really fond of using the Tome when I've already played a Lash or Oblivion during the turn and done my redirection, and don't feel like eating the (usually enhanced) damage from Investigate. It's the second artifact I play when I have a choice of artifacts.

I'm also deficient in using Astral Premonition, finding that I have other uses for my discards and powers. It's nifty, but I don't feel I can justify it normally.

Astral premonition hits the table when I face deck control susceptible villains and no better deck controller in the party. Like say Miss Info.
