In the first scene of the first issue of the starter kit, the players are fighting a group of mechanical spiders. The game suggests some twist examples, involving hindering or damaging heroes with a min die, or max for a major twist.
The issue is that the environment doesn’t have any dice. Am I missing something, or was this an oversight? If I am missing something, what am I rolling? The starter guide has a thing about rolling d4s if nothing applies, but that seems to be geared towards hero overcome checks.
The min, mid, or max dice being referenced by those twists don't come from the environment - they specifically mean the dice that were just rolled by the hero.
So, if a hero rolls a 3, 4, and 5 on an Overcome, the mid result is 4, which means the Overcome succeeds with a minor twist. So, if you select a minor twist that interacts with the min die, that min die result is 3!
