I didn't have legacy on my team when I unlocked, but I'm pretty sure all unlocks have had Expatriette.
I think all unlocks have:
been in in the realm of discord
had Expatriette on the team
unlocked after Oblivion has been played and resolved
now these conditions alone don't seem to always unlock, so there's something else missing--perhaps with how or what kind of oblivion has been played. Or maybe it is something else.
I like the idea that it may be dependent on the amount of damage Oblivion deals overall. Darkwatch Nightmist is supposed to be more powerful than normal Nightmist. It also may be she has to kill a bunch of targets with it.
I unlocked her, but I have no idea how. Here's everything that was going down.
GloomWeaver vs. Legacy, Dark Watch Expatriette, Argent Adept, and NightMist in the Realm of Discord
At the beginning of NightMist's turn, the following cards were in play:
GloomWeaver: Grimoire of Curses, Bag of Bones, 2x Chosen Disciple, Cursed Acolyte, some number of Zombies
Legacy: Incapacitated
Dark Watch Expatriette: Assault Rifle, Submachine Gun, Pride, Prejudice, Hairtrigger Reflexes
Argent Adept: Inspiring Supertonic, Rhapsody of Vigor, Akbunkh's Drum, Musaraghi's Harp, Eydisar's Horn, Sarabande of Destruction, Alacritous Subdominant, Counterpoint Bulwark
NightMist: Amulet of the Elder Gods, Master of Magic, Tome of Elder Magic, Crimson Pin
I played Oblivion with a magic value of 1 and flipped two 4s: Astral Premonition and Mists of Time. I killed a ton of targets, I redirected the first instance of Oblivion damage dealt to NightMist with the Amulet.
My theories are that either a) It's just the amount of damage that is done in the turn or the amount of targets killed, not necessarily 2x 4s. The 4s might just help by increasing the damage.
b) I haven't seen anyone else mention it in their unlock so I'm probably wrong, but might it be that you have to redirect the damage with the Amulet? Edit: In fact, looking at the screenshot above and seeing that NightMist is at full health, I'd like to officially make this one my recommendation. Someone else try it out and if it's true, I hope it's enough to get in the Hall of Fame :)
Just to be more clear: Try playing Oblivion regardless of the magic value and then use the Amulet of the Elder Gods to redirect the damage that would be dealt to NightMist.
Well, there was one guy on the Steam forums that mentioned his first Oblivion didn't get him the unlock, but the second did. Is it possible that it's Expat on team, Realm of Discord, and just Nightmist deals at least X damage total? Since Oblivion deals so much damage, it's likely to be the trigger, but maybe she just needs to deal a ton of damage and/or a ton of damage to RoD targets?
Got it on a second try. I think how much damage is relevant since it was boosted.
Just noting another fail here. Nightmist, Expat, AA, Greatest Legacy, and Tempest. Fighting Gloomy in Discord. Imbued Frailty was the only environment card out.
Played Oblivion (4) with a 4/4 combo. No unlock.
A couple things might matter. I used Reclaim from the Deep to put one of those 4's on top of her deck. Don't know if that "invalidates" it or something. Probably not though.
There were 2 Profane Zealots out. The first Oblivion sweep killed one, the second killed the other. If total damage matters, this brought my total down some, but I didn't get the exact numbers. There was also Gloomy's Drum out, so then it would've been something like 19 to villian targets, then 20 to heroes (Legs was immune to infernal), then another 14 to the villians again, 2 targets killed. That's a total of 53 damage, which makes me think min damage might not be the key. Oh yeah, and then the zombies. Screw it, I'm not mathing anymore. That's already a huge number in this game.
But if total damage is what triggers it, that could explain why a lot of early reports included Heedless Lash leading into the 4/4 Oblivion, for that extra kick. The minimum would have to be well over 60 in that case, possibly even over 70, which sounds absurd in this context. I know unlocks are supposed to be a challenge, but <insert expletive here>.
I've attached a screenshot of the board right before I tested Oblivion. I pulled 1/3, but Imbued Frailty and Legacy's boost meant that I was dealing plenty of damage. No luck. I think we can safely say that it's not a "number of targets killed" or "amount of damage dealt" requirement.
I reverted, and am now going to try and fetch a 4/x oblivion, and try wiping the field.
EDIT: Tried that with a 2/4, wiped out every non-character target (and Mr. Fixer), but still didn't work.
Question; does it have to be DW Expat, or just regular Expat? I think I'm going to scrap my current game with regular Expat and start over with the DW version to see if it makes a diff.
Mine was regular.
Just got it, using AA to put 4/4 on top of her deck, and then setting it off with Inventive Preparation. Realm of Discord, Apostate, DW Expat, DW Fixer, Fanatic, Nightmist, and AA. No environment cards out. Did not completely wipe the field. Amulet and Master of Magic both out.
To be clear, I meant amount of damage dealt total, like across the whole match, not just with a single Oblivion. When you finally got it, did you have any damage boosts and/or had Nightmist been particulary "active" that game?
Yeah, after reading through again I see people have done it either way.
I swear if someone doesn't figure this out soon, I'm going to screenshot the beginning of every one of NM's turns.
No and no.
What if Expat needs a specific card out? Like hair trigger reflexes?
Maybe it had something to do with total spell cards played in realm of discord
Has anybody tried Realm + DW Expat + Master of Magic + 4/4 Oblivion and had it not work?
I'm pretty sure by now that those conditions fulfill the trigger condition. Exactly how much of that is necessary remains to be seen. My guess is that Oblivion needs to play two 4s, but you don't need to get both 4s on the same Oblivion. And Expat probably doesn't need to be DW.
My expat was regular.
I tried that exact combo and got a 4 4 but I still haven’t unlocked it. Does it have to be the killing blow?
No. It wasn't for me.
