Vengeance Villains: Team or Solo? (Was: Quick question)

Couldn't find the answer anywhere.  Are the villians from vengenace able to be played as stand alones or do they have to be used as a team?

They are used as a team.

From the 5 villain teamates, you will play against [H] of them at once.

Can we change the title of this to something descriptive, for future searching purposes?

Does this mean you can have Duals?

Isn't the game already a bunch of Duals?

Okay.  Seems really ineresting to fight against them, but I was hoping they could be played seperatly from Vengance as just more villians.

Still really excited though

To clarify: The Vengeance from a mechanical standpoint contains only 1 Villain, just like Omnitron is 1 Villain, and just like the Ennead is 1 Villain.

So it's a seperate deck?  I am getting confused again.  Honestly I can't wait to get my hands on it.  and I know it will all make since then I am just trying to get a preemtive understanding.

Each member of the V5 has a unique deck yes. But the V5 is still considered 1 "Villain" from the card-game perspective. Maybe calling each gameplay experience a villain 'encounter' might be less confusing, in which case the V5 are 1 encounter using multiple decks. You can't take single members of the Ennead and fight them by themselves, they come as a team. This follows that same idea but executes it in a different way.

Ah, very cool.  Nice new twist.

With these smaller villains, and the number of decks being the H rather than the hits, does that lend itself to a 2 on 2, or even a 1 on 1? (Obviously some heroes would be terrible for a 1 on 1, but it's a thought.)

I don't know if I'd say it "lends itself" to those formats. Everything is balanced around official game formats, but your mileage will certainly vary depending on setup. Would you use an environment deck? How would you treat [H] values from there at [H] = 2? [H] = 1?

Where there is a will there is a way!

You are by no means the only one.

But could have, say Vengful Baron vs Legacy, or Friction vs Tachyon?

I was also wondering if this would be a good way to add a 6th player, so adding one Vengful Five to a full villain, keeping H at 5 for the villain deck and then +1 for the 6th hero being the extra mini-villain.

I also hope they add more villains into the vengeance format, it could make a lot more replay ability figuring out synergies between multiple villains

There was an idea going around here somewhere that the team leader of the V5 could be swapped out to any existing villains. So instead of the new Baron Blade, you could use Citizen Dawn and the V5 decks. I dont remember if that was ever shot down tho. I thought it was a cool idea

But if that's not the case, you'd have to play Freight Train, Ermine, Friction, Prolatriot and Baron Blade every time you had 5 players, not too much variety.

Vengeance: mega-expansion, or micro-expansion?
