La Capitan, Citizens Hammer and Anvil, Greazer Clutch and Miss Information vs. Best of Times Chorno-Ranger, Visionary Unleashed, Extremist Sky-Scraper and Requital Captain Cosmic in the FInal Wasteland.
It's a wild and unpredictable one, with lots of discarding and deck shuffling. I suspect everyone's game will play out pretty differently.
Mint.
Getting Chiquito under the deck via No Executions was pretty key for me, but again, it is wild and varied. I learned that Judge Mental is very dangerous for Requtial CC...the extra damage incapped him. BUT Visionary Unleashed LOVES Judge Mental. They were best friends. Extremist Sky-Scraper was also incapped, but that was okay, because it meant that Greazer left the field.
At the end, the Villains went down. Once the Citizens and Greazer were out of commission, it wasn't too tough. Only BoT Chrono and Visionary Unleashed were standing at the end, Chrono with 16 HP, and Visionary with 2HP.
First couple rounds were painful (stupid Miss Information), but once I have Demoralize & Judge Mental out at the same time, things went downhill for the Villians.
Once I was able to use powers, I was set.
Also, I love Requital. He's the only version where I play Potent Disruption at all, and the only one where I'll play Cosmic Cataclysm as anything besides a game winner.
I only played a practice game so far, but in that, Sky-Scraper with Proportionist and Twist the Ether was the MVP, constantly changing sizes and hitting the enemy for 3 sonic damage each while reducing friendly fire to 0. I took out Anvil first and then Miss Information. I always leave Greazer for last, since you can always just get rid of him by letting his target die.
Mint for me. A bit of a slog though. Sky-Scraper went down (excessive use of Monoliths), everyone else was in single digits.
No Executions on Chiquito is a necessity. Even given Miss Information's opening set of Ongoings, it's almost necessary to get that monkey out of the picture.
Also, I botched playing Wrest the Mind by forgetting that it's not Greazer's hair that does the damage.
Miss Info didn't bug me much, I actually kept the no powers card out a bit extra to take advantage of extra card plays. Using a precog on her early let me manage and plan for her effects.
Strong agree on using No Executions to bury Chiquito in the deck ASAP, it seriously weakens La Capitan.
I focued all my attacks on Anvil and his shield (1st), then Hammer (2nd) as the damn position cards are always a thorn in my side. After that I took out Miss Info (as La Capitan had already been weakened and Greazer wasn't as disruptive).
I didn't have a bunch of experience managing Requital CC's power so screwed up with that a couple times, but nothing fatal and he can do a bunch of damage with it so it was worth it anyway.
Easy mint for me, too--one of my easiest team villains games, and certainly my easiest with CH&A or Greazer; one of my few with Greazer where he didn't leave on his own accord. Having Thorathian Monolith out for more than half the game helped a ton, although I'm sure Portja would have preferred to finish the game at more than 3 HP. Probably should have given her an Energy Bracer, but I put them all on Requital out of habit. I did give her a couple of Vitality Conduits, which helped. I made a couple of blunders--I thought Wrest the Mind on the Pompadour was genius because I forgot it wasn't the source of its damage, and CC did smack himself real good one time--but all in all it was a great showcase of Extremist's strengths.
Easy mint for me too, except that I accidentally killed the Cap. I too went for the "keep Judge Mental out" approach, and didn't notice that constructs psychic CC, which meant that when I dropped an Energy Bracer on him, did some quick math, and said "I can absorb 4 or 5 damage", he psychic'd himself in the face for 15, leading to him being incapped next round.
But Visionary was blowing stuff to hell and gone. Sky-Scrapper dropped Psychic Canisters left and right, which led to Hammer blasting the Pompadour and getting blasted by Greazer, and then Greazer hitting himself extra-hard thanks to the Judge. The Visionary was doing huge extra damage. Chrono-Ranger got his Ether Twisted, which meant that he was doing huge extra damage when all his little pokes turned into 3+damage blasts. Everyone had over 12 HP left (other than Cosmic, of course) when the last of the villains went down.
Easy mint here with everyone in high-double digits save for Skyscraper who hung around at 6. Special mention, and honourary hero title must go to Judge Mental, however! Couldn't have done it so easily without you, pal! :)
Yeah, Judge Mental was my MVP as well, though BOT Chrono Ranger ended up getting By Any Means out on four different characters, and burying Chiquito meant La Capitan was easy to ignore.
Easy Mint with CR at 10, Visionary at full HP, Sky-Scraper incapped, and Requital CC at 13. Judge Mental made CR happy (Compound Bow), Visionary ecstatic (Demoralization + TK Cocoon), Sky-Scraper briefly happy (Compulsion Canister)... and Requital CC scared. But it all turned out OK.
I almost had SS survive, but Anvil's incap ability bought the Pompadour from -1 to 1 HP, which saved Greazer from killing himself at the start of his turn. Instead, he smacked SS for 7, killing her, and left the field of his own accord.
Destruction order for me was Hammer & Shield -> Anvil -> Hammer -> Greazer left -> La Capitan -> Miss Information.
My order was Greazer, Hammer and Anvil, La Capitan, Miss Information.
I never find Miss Information that threatening, and I buried Chiquito like everyone else. Sky-Scraper tanked for a few turns and Visionary belted out damage witht the increased psychic from Judge Mental.
Something that has never happened for me before, which happened today, was realizing halfway through Cosmic's power "Oh. The constructs deal psychic damage." as I was brutally shredded down to 8 HP. So that was fun. I gave him a Cosmic Weapon to use after that, but it was only another round until the game ended.
Compulsion Canisters shennanigans on Hammer and Anvil/The Hair were also fun.
I never even got any Compulsion Canisters or Twist the Ethers. This team dishes out a fair amount of pain considering their almost complete lack of +damage modifiers. I didn't even get Ultimate Target until the second-to-last round, and By Any Means won me the game the same turn it came out.
I always take out Miss Information first; not only is she easy, but her incap side is borderline beneficial! So you literally outnumber the enemies that way. Greazer fell shortly thereafter, followed by Hammer (actually Anvil was TRULY first) and finally La Capitan.
No mint for me. I targeted Miss Info -> Capitan -> Greazer already left -> Hammer and Anvil, and really in the end I just couldn't finish the damage race ahead of the two. The Cover Fire I stacked on the top of the deck to remove Bastion turn 1 bit me hard in the late game, with that retaliation damage a large threat. A second Bastion to revive Anvil was the second wind they needed to hang on for long enough to beat me.
Fairly easy mint. I nuked Chiquito like everyone else. I put the Energy Bracers on Skyscraper and played Thorathian Monoliths every chance I got. That let Captain Cosmic go to town on playing his constructs and let Chrono-Ranger use Hunter and Hunted and neither one had to deal with the negative side effects. With all the environment targets available, Skyscraper kept throwing them around for extra damage. I didn't quite realize how great Proportionist was with the new Skyscraper's small form until near the end of the game, but oh well. Hardly needed.
Order for me was Miss Information, La Capitan, Anvil, Hammer and Greazer.
One thing that didn't work was using Mental Divergence to pull Thorathian Monolith out of the trash and put it back on Skyscraper's deck. I tried 3 different times: I used the power, picked place an ongoing card from trash on the top of the deck, chose Skyscraper, and then nothing happened. I never got a message or a chance to pick the card. It just moved forward. When I looked in Skyscraper's trash, Thorathian Monolith was still there. I was planning on letting Skyscraper tank for the whole game, but this stopped me from doing it. Anyone know if I missed something or is this a bug?
