Weekly One-Shot #23 - Res/u/rre/x/ion: Start Program

Omnitron-X, Legacy, Fanatic and Unity vs Omnitron (I) in the Time Cataclysm with a randomised setup.

It's nice to get a fun, easy one after the really tough setups of the last few weeks.  As long as you aren't unlucky and get something like Main Computer Room playing Electro-Pulse Explosive, you'll be fine using your usual Omnitron strats.

I do wonder if the supposition that this One-Shot can be used to unlock Omnitron-U is correct, I guess we'll need to wait and see.  Of course, I wouldn't recommend incapping Omnitron while going for the mint, but doing so in later replays might be fun!

That was a nicely casual Mint for me.  Got a little awkward when the first two plays was an Electropulse Explosive into Adaptive Plating Subroutine, but Legacy had Inspiring Presence allowing Fanatic and Unity to clear the Explosive on the first round.  It was pretty easy going from there until the first Technological Singularity happened, but I had Stealth Bot, so Omnitron-X was able to avoid the brunt of it.  I was even able to set it up so that O-X got the killing blow to count towards the "Settle the Scores" achievement.  Just need to do one more and I'll have every Achievement except Omnitron-U.

As long as you aren't unlucky and get something like Main Computer Room playing Electro-Pulse Explosive, you'll be fine...

Aaaaand of course that's exactly what happened to me in the fourth round. Unity was still barely alive, however, and Fixed Point + Embolden the next round let her get double uses out of both a Pylon and a convieniently-Timeshifted Scrap Metal. She had 7 bots in play with Lead From the Front + Fortitude on the field, which was pretty much game over at that point. Minty fresh.

That happened to me as well.  However, Heroic Interception and Stealth Bot resulted in 0 damage dealt. It was really lucky timing! Went on to an easy mint from there. Oddly, never saw a villain Component the whole time.

I don't mind having an easy one every once in a while, and this was fun. :) I think my lowest HP at the end was Omni-X at 11, and that's because I felt like I was getting some bad draws the first few rounds.

Mint.

Man, the combo of Omnitron-X and Unity is incredibly powerful. Through Timeshifts and Construction Pylons, Unity had out a Platform Bot, 2 Raptor Bots, Champion Bot, Cryo Bot and a Bee Bot by the end of round 3. That plus Galvanize meant the game ended in round 4, after two 20+ damage turns from Unity.

It also helped that Fanatic was able to use Galvanized, Hastily Augmented Exorcise, and played Divine Focus in the last round--that was the final damage at the start of Round 4 environment turn.

Also, the environment was incredibly benign for me--Tumbleweeds, the brain sucker thing, and a Crushing Hallway that Omnitron-X Bio-Engineered away.

Omnitron-X and Unity never took damage, Legacy's only damage he dealt to himself via 2 Heroic Interceptions, and Fanatic ended at 27.

This ended up being a perfect storm in favor of the heroes. Some games are just like that!!

Each hero started with a way to armor up and reduce damage, and Unity started with a pylon, Swifty, and a chomps. The damage reduction was handy because Omnitron kept bringing interpolation beams back out .  Which did nothing because of the armor.

Omnitron brought out a blistering array of rail guns to complement the (ineffectual) beams, which were very shiny until Unity's ever growing army ripped them apart.

There were a few repair drones though!  Very threatening!  And a single automaton drone!

The most nerve-wracking moment was when the Main Computer Room allowed Omnitron to play a card on the Environment turn.  What would it be?!  Would it be the dread environmental electro pulse?  Or a sedative Flechettes to strip us of our interpolation-proof armor??

It was another Interpolation beam.

Mint.  I screwed up and Hastily Augmented a Defensive Blast without a plating in play.  That was annoying, but I recovered easily, and crushed Omnitron into little tiny bits.

It didn't happen to me… No, Main Computer Room pulled Terraforming, putting out an EPE and a Component, and a bot! Mint, but barely…

Mint.

When Electro-pulse Explosive appeared at the beginning and neither Omnitron-X and Legacy had any damage dealing cards I thought bugger. Fanatic had Sacrosanct Martyr and then was hastily augmented, so for 12 damage on Fanatic she took out EPE before it could go off. Thematic for Fanatic.

Then very straight forward.

This is the first one shot I have played in a while, easy mint with no electropulse explosives to hinder us. First turn Terraforming for fun and profit and an early StealthBot made the Interpolation Beams a non-event, sadly Omnitron never found another component. The only "problem" the team had was when O-X used the Gausian-Coil Blaster on 2 BeeBots and the wrong order was chosen for the Environment/Ongoing destruction, first Atlantean Throne Room and then Adaptive Plating which meant Omnitron was immune to the second BeetBot's damage, a shame.

Fairly easy one -- the Main Computer Room came out first turn and only played the Flechettes before I even had any Ongoings out, so no real harm. Everyone got their damage dealing out quickly, and Unity's bots outdid Omnitron's and put him down hard before O-X slipped through time, tag-teamed with Unity for a time-shifted Powered Shockwave and then finished him off with the Bio Beam. Environment was very benign, with only the head-squid thing proving an obstacle, since it buffed Omnitron while Interpolation Beam was out, and I was dumb and played Bolster Allies.

Quite possibly the easiest Mint I’ve ever had, and shortest stream, too.

Legacy started off with Inspiring Presence in his hand, and Unity had Hasty Augmentation. Thanks to that Fanatic did 16 damage in the first turn alone. Time shift got out several bots for Unity (Cryo-Bot first, then a Turret Bot, eventually had Cryo-Bot, Turret, two Platforms, and a Raptor Bot). Bee Bot took care of a Surprise Shopping Trip - but not before it hit Omnitron, then pinged Cryo-Bot as well. Legacy mostly provided card draws and damage boost, Omni-X used Sedative Flechettes, time shift, and provided an equipment or two for Unity to cannibalize. Fanatic and Unity dealt the most damage - Fanatic just straight using boosted Exorcism, Unity with her bots. Ultimately a really easy win - even drew a Powered Shockwave last turn, but Fanatic ended it before I could use it.

Mint, but it was a race to get there, owing mostly to Omnitron’s turn 1 Electropulse Explosive. I did what I could l, but I had to soak a round of it, which made the (otherwise uneventful) match much closer than I’d anticipated.
