Cosmic Omnitron vs. Tachyon, Unity, Bunker, Omnitron-X, and Tempest in Silver Gulch, 1883 with a randomized start.
My game was pretty brutal. For all but one round I was Time-shifting Unity, but it just never worked out; each successful Golem put into play by Time-shift was followed by Cosmic Omnitron playing Sedative Flechettes. I did sucessfully prevent Omnitron from flipping all game by keeping at least one of Omnitron-X's Components in play (though they kept getting destroyed, usually by Sedative Flechettes...). I was really worried when Silver Gulch played Explosives Wagon when my team was down to single digit HP, because there was a good chance of Omnitron playing Terra-forming and destroying it immediately, triggering its destruction effects immediately and thereby wiping my team. All throughout I had bad luck with Omnitron's plays, with my Equipments and Ongoings getting destroyed just before I was able to fully utilize them. But, I did ultimately Mint, so I guess my desperate struggles were rewarded.
I’m guessing this is Part Two in the origin story of Omnitron-U.
So we need to destroy O-X and Golems?
Near Mint. Cosmic Omnitron makes me unhappy
. Two early Electro Magnetic Pulses, Tech Singularity and both Sedative Flechettes plus the Hayes Brothers was just not survivable with my cards.
Second game was definitely luckier. Opened with Tech Singularity and Sedative Flechettes (so nothing lost and no damage from Tech). I had Synaptic Interruption to handle Electro Magnetic Pulse. I did see the second Tech Singularity which probably would've killed me but Hypersonic Assault was still in effect. Despite these lucky breaks, everyone still ended with low single digit HP.
Looks like we got Story Mode (Omnitron-U's story at least) after all?
Survived this one with all heroes in at one or two health. An opening Sedative Flechettes and a Terraforming with an Explosive Wagons out dipped me down low early. My fear playing Cosmitron or Akash in Silver Gulch is their ability to immediately destroy those.
Cosmitron apparently took the defeat of his previous iteration seriously, and learned quite a bit from fruitlessly bringing out interpolation beams. This was easily the roughest start I've ever had, as it pulled out a Disintegration Ray, 2 rail guns, and a sedative Flechettes to ensure that all of my heroes took a beating before they could do anything.
The entire match was a back and forth. I'd get set up a bit, then Cosmitron would pummel us back. We even had the dreaded Terraforming of the Explisives Wagon!
The good news is that we have as good as we got, and a well-placed Hypersonic kept us from getting obliterated by dual full-HP electro pulses.
Cosmitron was down to 30 HP, but Tachyon was the highest hero at 4HP. We all unleashed, knowing that if we couldn't win it, we'd be taken out by the electro pulses. Each hero gave it their all, and I'm pleased to say that it worked, ending in a deliciously minty victory.
Mint. I found it pretty easy. All my heroes ended up above 15 HP, OX with full tableau of useful components. Managed to kill O-II before the Explosive wagons went off. By the end I was dealing 30+ damage per round.
I think this is part II of the origin story.
Mint, but it was soooooo close.
Started off taking lots of damage, getting wrecked by Disruptive Flechettes in the first two rounds. I'm very thankful that I never saw a Technoligical Singularity. That would have hurt.
Bunker made himself useful comboing Ammo Drop and Omni-Cannon to dish out good damage on a regular basis. Tachyon went down, getting incapped after only providing one Hypersonic Assault. She drew lots of cards, but few that were helpful. Unity held her own, with Raptors and Platforms. Omnitron-X used Elemental Exochassis to resist a good deal of damage…I messed up early and played Slip Through Time via an Electro-Deployment Unit, so it got destroyed right away. Boo!
The key to victory was on the penultimate round, when I had four remaining heroes in low single digits. Cosmic O was at about 25. They were all going to die without any healing…so, Omnitron-X Timeshifted Tempest…and…got a Cleansing Downpour! Woo!
That healing allowed all four heroes to survive–I needed that, because Cosmic O's next flips were TWO Electro Pulse Explosives. However, with Unity's bots, a big hit from the Omni-cannon, a Defensive Blast, and one last Ball Lightning, the heroes stood victorious.
And severely wounded.
And wet.
(From the Downpour
)
That was a pretty close mint.
Tachyon had a weak starting hand, and never really got going. She drew her first pair of HUD goggles on the last turn.
Tempest started with Localized Hurricane as his only worthwhile card in hand. That lasted a while and helped keep the drones in check. Cleansing Downpour came out right after that got wiped, but was too late to save Bunker.
Unity got a bunch of bots out, just in time for sedative fleschettes. (and I had Powered Shock Wave in hand, just to twist the knife)
Omnitron-X got a bunch of components out to reflip Cosmitron, just in time for Technological Singularity. (He survived that, Bunker did not). Thankfully, I was able to keep Cosmitron from flipping back. I kept using him on Unity, which helped a little.
Bunker was a monster while active, but fell in the end.
Fine.
Game 1 Cosmitron opening. Both Disintigration Rays and Electromagnetic Railgun. Draws Electro-pulse Explosives and then draws the second one. iPad almost went off nearest wall. Somehow survived until Cosmitron's second turn first card draw.
Game 2 went better until I lost Omnitron-X, who kept on losing his components as he couldn't find a plating.
Game 3 finally took care of Cosmitron. Tachyon went Hypersonic Assault happy, X finally got himself going, and everyone else chopped parts of Cosmitron into ity bitty pieces.
Considering how many times I've played Omnitron I & II over the last couple of weeks, I'll be glad to not see him for a little while.
Chalk up another barely Mint.
I had Omnitron-II down to 7 HP with all heroes in double digits and only had to survive the final two cards it was going to play. Of course, the first was Sedative Flechettes, taking me down to 2 heroes at 2 HP, 2 at 4 HP and Bunker at 6 HP. Thankfully, the killer robot's second play was just a harmless Disintegration Ray, as I think Technological Singularity (neither of which had been played yet) would have resulted in a loss for me.
I had been rather lucky in that game too. Earlier in the game, at the end of an Environment turn, the cards in play were:
Stout Barrel (3 HP), Explosives Wagon (7 HP) and Sustain the Portal.
Stout Barrel then played a second Stout Barrel, but I manipulated Sustain the Portal to damage Omnitron-II and the Stout Barrels (destroying one) before taking out a Bee Bot, which did damage to destroy the other Stout Barrel, then destroyed Sustain the Portal to protect the Explosives Wagon and other hero targets.
The following round involved Omnitron-II playing Terraforming, which did hurt due to the Explosives Wagon, but would have been disatrous if I had have left the other Environment cards in play too. The extra play from Terraforming was just the second Terraforming, making me breathe a sigh a relief.
It's due to situations like that, both the good and the bad, that I love playing SotM!
Squish.
Opened with a brutal hand that could easily deal Cosmitron 7 damage, or alternatively nuke his components with Self-Sabotage. Then he proceeded to play Technological Singularity while I had zero equipment out (Bunker drew with Aux Power Source, Unity turned Scrap Metal into bots, and O-X had played Self-Sabotage), and then on the next turn hit Sedative Flechettes, but only Tempest had ongoings, and Cosmitron had been Hypersonic Assaulted. The environment played mostly Explosive Wagons, Tachyon had a second Hypersonic Assault in hand, and we just generally beat Cosmitron into the dirt.
I don't really like the randomized start Weekly One-Shots. They're fine on occasion, but they make comparing games pointless, and it's sad watching some people get screwed by what for other people is an easy game. (Of course, I suspect that this series is random to avoid giving us too many hints about the unlock. Which I appreciate. I just don't like them in general)
Mint here but it was a rough start.
2 Railguns, Disintigration Ray, an Automaton, and Sedative Flachettes. Plus the only damage dealing I had was a Platform I couldn’t play, Hasty Augmentation, and Tempest’s base. So after 2 rounds of that I finally got built up a bit and did enough damage to get rid of the components and wanna guess what II plays on his 3rd turn? Terraforming, followed by Singularity AND Flechettes.
So everything got taken out, including Unity, and the remaining heroes were in single digits. Thankfully luck turned my way. A Timeshifted Cleansing Downpour, some Adhesive Foam, and 2 Hypersonics kept me in the game. With both Flachettes spent, I set up Components to my robotic heart’s content and had Tempest use the Shackle/Cyclone combo.
Never saw an EPE, and the dreaded Wagon didn’t come out until Gulch’s final play.
I love the Wagon. I just don't like it as much when I face villains who wipe out the environment.
Near Mint.
Game 1 ran into the problem where Explosives Wagon showed up and Cosmitron immediately Terraformed it. Then Flechettes into Flechettes wiped out all of Unity's bots, and it ended on the Environment turn thanks to a prior turn's Stout Barrel into Stout Barrel playing Cyrus Hayes (killing Tachyon and Bunker) into Sustain the Portal (offing everyone else for exact damage).
Game 2 went a lot better. Both Flechettes and Singularities came early when there was no meaningful cards in play, though the second Singularity did clear out a plating and three components from Omnitron-X. Thankfully, Cosmitron was under Hypersonic Assault, so O-X didn't immediately die from losing four equipments. Eventually, I was able to whittle him down and finished him off with a 7-damage self sabotage in O-X's start of turn, thanks to an Electro Deployment Unit. Also, "Settling the Scores" achievement unlocked!
Mint, but only just won.
Everyone incapped but Omni-X, curse the Wagon's betrayal. All in all a solid game with Unity doing most of the heavy lifting. Bunker was near useless nothing but draw cards with Interpolation Beams in play. Omni-X fed Unity, Tachy did some modest damage, but again draws for days when they weren't wanted. Tempest was modestly helpful, knocking a Pulse Into the Stratosphere and Hurricaning the local bandits. When it came down to Omni vs Omni I started to sweat, but pulled off a solid victory with 4 hp to spare.
Sigh.... Sometimes the random starts SUCK. Omnitron pulled out a bunch of components (including two of the "take 1 damage everytime you draw a card") plus a drone on his first turn, then a Sedative Flechettes on top of an Explosives Wagon. My heroes were nearly all down to single digits by the beginning of Round 2, and it just got worse from there.
Sh*t!! And the second time, he pulled a Sedative Flechettes....followed by a Technological Singularity....followed by another Sedative Flechettes.
....third time (less) unlucky. A normal spate of cards. Everyone worked well together: Tempest reclaimed cards from the deep, to be played via Omnitron's power, or drawn via Tach's Fleet of Foot. People redirected timely damage to Bee Bots to take out pesky cards, and reshuffled damage to be sure Omni-X's components didn't get eliminated. A timely Self-Sabotage wiped out a spate of Big Brother Cosmi's components. Not that everyone escaped unscathed, but lowest hero was 9 HP, highest 14HP, so a pretty good night for all.
This one wasn't too tough -- the only Terraforming came out after I had Bee Bot'd the only Environment card, and I only saw Technological Singularity (wiped O-X's components, but Hypersonic Assault prevented damage) and the Flechettes (bye bye, three bots, but luckily one of them was Bee Bot, so I got something out of it) once each. I ended up using Timeshift mostly on O-X and Tempest, since the one time I did use it to get one of Unity's bots out, it was Raptor Bot and it was the turn before the Flechettes.
Bunker didn't do much damage, mostly he kept the Environment at bay and reaped the fruits of a first-turn Ammo Drop. He ended up with 20 cards in hand, but only one damaging power by the end.
Ended up finishing things off by tagteaming with a nice, big, 10-HP Singularity.
I also love the Wagon, especially double Wagons with a Defensive Blast, but against Omnitron I’d rather leave it burried and take my time.
