It's a base set special (tm) as Xtreme Prime Wardens Tempest, Freedom 6 Absolute Zero, The Eternal Haka, and Redeemer Fanatic take on Challenge mode Grand Warlord Voss in Atlantis. Complete with Tennyson for the description, which my wife the Tennyson fangirl approves of.
It's been late nights with the kiddo the last few days, so I might be able to give this a shot tonight...
Once the initial onslaught of krakens and minions subsides, it’s not too bad. Although, Tempest and Absolute Zero went down, and Haka ended with 1HP, and Fanatic with 2HP.
MVP cards were Savage Mana and Wrathful Retribution.
Comfortable Mint here. Tempest went down early to a rapid deployment + Kraken onslaught, but that proved to be a blessing in disguise as he completely neutered the environment and fed Haka cards on his incapacitated side for the rest of the game. Everyone else finished in double digits and Voss went down from the one-two punch of Savage Mana (augmented by Haka of Battle) and Wrathful Retribution.
Honestly, Voss' Challenge rules are a complete non-factor if you're not playing him on advanced as there's absolutely no reason to ever flip him back once he's on the super-soldier side.
Fairly easy mint, Voss's challenge rule barely comes into play the way I fight him.
Lost Tempest, but that was a good thing, because he kept the environment locked down. I mean, he's great for shutting down the ship, if you ignore the fact that he can't shut down the ongoing destruction. But I just kind of left it in play, sacrificing ongoings to attract the ire of the Kraken, and did the usual thing to blow up the warlord. :B It was nice having a base-game one-shot that didn't feel like "just" a base-game one-shot, you know?
What everyone said. Mint, flip Voss once and his Challenge is dead, survive the triple kraken and first wave of mooks and all is well, Tempest is useful for neutralizing the ship but dies quick which lets you control the environment.
Yep, basically the same story here. Got a Near Mint because I made a dumb Absolute Zero math mistake that would have killed him and undid it, because I really didn't want to lose Sub-Zero Atmosphere.
Played Cold snap on round 1, forgetting that the spaceship would nuke it before it went off. Then End of Days'd everything the next round just to get a clean slate.
Did throw a 26 point Wrathful retribution, followed the next round by a Rampage/Savage Mana combo for another 23 points. The left Voss at 1 hp. He took out Zero the next round, leaving Haka the last man standing.
Lost Tempest early, as others stated. I dropped End of Days round 1 and drew cards, which set me up perfectly to use Savage Mana + Rampage to wipe the board after Forced Deployment came out. From there I was never in any real danger despite the relatively low finishing HP. AZ got set up enough to take the lowest-HP fire damage from Voss and heal for 1, Fanatic just kept healing and drawing without being able to do much, and Haka did most of the damage. When I was ready to burn Voss down, Savage Mana for 20 and Wrathful Retribution for 22 did the trick.
I saved the Kraken to beat on one of Voss's minions on turn one so I could do more damage to the ship.
On the second turn, I let the Krakens (plural!) beat on the ship, because it was at 2 health.
On the third turn, Flash Flood took out the Krakens.
When Voss destroyed Forced Deployment, Tempest died, which lead to him keeping everyone safe from the rest of the environments. Then Haka rampaged everything and put them under Savage Mana.
Near Mint, because I moved too quickly and played End of Days instead of Embolden. Which was kind of a huge deal that wiped my board and let all of Voss's minions back into his trash, from which he played them a couple turns later and wiped me out.
