There's nothing in his description about him being an alien Harry Potter. I knew he messed with ley lines but figured that was all from his tech. But in his hero description on the Kickstarter, now he's bummed that "all of his magical power and Endling technology could not prevent the future" and is gearing up to use his "formidable command of mystical energy". Not only that, but his alt doubles down on the juju by becoming a Blood Elf, sorry Blood Mage.
I guess he was a level 5 magic user all along, but I didn't get that at all while playing him.
I know ley lines are usually considered magical, but they are also often considered just lines of power or energy, which fit with my expectation that he was an alien using tech to manipulate natural lines of energy in the Earth.
I guess everyone else knew Deadline was an alien wizard but me? He doesn't even wear a Gandalf hat!
It looks like the blood magic stuff he is using is very similar to what Gloomweaver used in his skinwalker incarnation. The markings on their chest are very similar.
But Im with Spiff. That took me by a bit of a surprise as well. His original tech was mostly tech related stuff. Nothing really indicated he had some magics too him. I wonder to what extent those are though?
What is flying but moving from point A to point B through the air? We walk, we run, we drive, we fly. We find better ways to get from one point to another. Sometimes we do it to get to a place just out of our reach, other times to get to someplace we could go to more efficiently, still is essentially the same.
Back on topic - it occurred to me after reading this that we /should/ have through of Deadline as possibly being connected to magic, as both the Pandemonium Key and the Ataxia Sphere have the keyword "Relic," which is otherwise reserved for items of magical connection - Absolution, Condemnation, Apostate's various relics, stuff from Nightmists's or Gloomweaver's decks. In triple-checking this, rather to my surprise none of the Argent Adept's instruments have that keyword.
