I can see that… maybe doing more damage in exchange for taking more, or something. I like the idea of Frostbite AZ. Honestly, I bet the X Wardens will be with the Obliv box. I just started wondering about it in this box when the video dropped. But, I’ve been wrong already about that sort of thing. I should really stop that sort of speculation. My wild-ass guesses tend to be better than trying to divine secrets from leaks.
Speaking of the Oblivæon box, I would honestly not be surprised if EVERY hero got at least 1 or 2 Alternate Reality variants in the final expansion. Mistgate multiversal madness.
Indeed. I like the flexibility and the fabricate/exterminate keywords. If I am reading it right, the items will activate on Villain Omnitron’s end phase…
…and checked the card. Nope, specifically Villain cards. Shame, I kinda liked the idea of Omni-X hijacking Villain-Omni’s systems.
Makes Omni-X a bit more flexible and self-sufficient. Less of a support character. Then again, Unity doesn’t need the “put it into play” power as much, anymore.
Also, does the Paracausal Shielding image look like that one Overwatch character to anyone else?
While Omnitron-1 can’t activate X’s effects, Omni-X could activate 1’s effects based on the wording, though the only ones I could see being of value would be the Fabricate on the Railgun and Disintegration Ray or the Exterminate on Protomatter Converter. Maybe the effects on the Repair Drone if Luminary is in the game.
I’m definitely interested in how Omnitron-IV is going to interact with both of them in the future. I’m also wondering if the 2 Protocol cards shown are his only ones. Makes things more in line with villain Omnitron if he can only be in either Fabricate mode or Exterminate mode. Maybe there’s a 3rd Protocol that gives him more flexibility but less power?
Also Paracausal Shielding definitely turns him into pink Zenyatta. It’s cool that the plating actually changes his form instead of just a different color.
pssst…you can damage your teammates to activate their Reactions…
Fixer will thank you later.
Zenyatta! Thank you, I could not remember his name for the life of me! XD
That’s my guess. My headcannon is that the card depicts some sort of duel betwixt two different alternate Drakes. (Possibly in the Realm of Discord?) The Rainbow Rhythmist looks like he has some kind of smug, almost-villainous grin, while the Monochrome Mandolinist doesn’t look very mean, so I almost wonder who’s supposed to be the villain or the hero.
Alternatively, the grey guy might be the Silver Sorcerer, the Adept from the Inversiverse. Or, perhaps instead of being a Virtuoso of the Void, he’s a Guru of the Grey.
The problem with Dark Visionary—or Mr. Jitters, as @Thunderbird mentioned—is that, I think, neither of them can really create monsters to do their bidding as the Dreamer can. Dark Vis has mainly the same powers as her good counterpart, while Jitters simply manipulates fear.
Regarding Æternus, it seems odd to me that the Æ effects are just signalled by that letter, rather than a symbol, word, or both, like Exterminate/Fabricate, Perform/Accompany, Infected, and Ammo.
Also, Shoulder “Advisor” is great, especially Guise’s quote. XD One of you Patræon folks should put Writers’ Room: The Guise Book #11 up for voting.
From O-X’s update, Unity’s quote on Production Processes is also great. Unrelatedly, the quote on Paracausal Shielding is listed as being from Omni-X, while the quote on that card’s EE counterpart (Temporal Shielding) is from Tachyon, despite being the exact same quote. Is this the first time that the speaker of a quote has been retconed?

It does function differently, so it should look different. Not sure I’m a fan of just a single bold letter though. Stuff like fabricate/exterminate/loaded/perform are instantaneous effects, like powers or one-shots. Æ text is passive, like ongoing cards, or what I assume naturalist will have. There should be some difference in the design, but I don’t know what would actually look better than what was previewed.
Okay, the emo troll we love to hate has been revealed. Not as much misdirection as Miss Information, but it’s there. Wondering what the flip side will do wit the cards underneath. Fuel for some hurt, or a timer for how long heroes have to kick his feathery butt before he gets lies back under control?
Will he still have Apocalypse, and will it bury itself or move under his character card after destroying everything else? Otherwise it’d stick around Forever* on his front side.
*At least as long as his other Ongoing cards.
@Thunderbird, it looks like all his Ongoings might be “Lie” cards, so likely not.
On “You Will Bring Pain,” is the art depicting Apostate disguised as Expat? Have we seen him completely mimic someone’s appearance before? I know that he can alter his form, but I wasn’t aware of it being to that degree.
Granuum and Nahropt’s new looks and quotes are real nifty; I can totally imagine them as Those Two Guys, or heck, even a spinoff book.
“Lord of Lies and Hair Care Products” is pretty memorable.
The Block is here, and it’s mentions of “Non-character agent” makes me suspect that Seargent Steel and his crew will have the Agent tag, but possibly KNYFE as well!
@Godai, that’s certainly possible, but was K.N.Y.F.E. not disassociated with F.I.L.T.E.R. by the time that her Hero deck represents? Her EE character card does have “Agent of F.I.L.T.E.R” crossed out on it.
What kind of “Other Inmates” does the Block house betwixt humans and aliens? Robots? Magical creatures?
Hey @Rabit, it looks like you got upgraded to a named character. But what did you do to get Parse to be your nemesis?
Apostate.
No idea! Probably just too awesome for her to deal with.
Looking forward to a Letter’s Page ep that gives us the backstory of all the new named environment characters in DE!
Any thoughts on new villain for Wednesday’s update? Some particular Æternal Prince or Busybody for a nemesis to Darkstrife & Painstake, who we’re almost certain are coming now? Or pull another Terrorform type move and reveal a new character that no one expected? I’m trying to think of any extra-dimensional/alternate reality villain we’ve heard of but haven’t encountered yet. Nothing springs to mind immediately.
I think Grimm is likely. Maybe not tomorrow, but at some point in this campaign.
Too soon after revealing him. Busybody is possible, because for the longest time they thought they had introduced her.
Honestly, I’m hoping for an out-of-left-field thing like Terrorform. Doesn’t need to be a D&P foe. Not everyone has a Nemesis in the expansion, even in DE (Citizen Dawn vs Expat, Ra vs Enead, Terrorform vs Akash, etc), and not everyone even had a set Neemsis in EE (Unity never had a solo nemesis… Chrono Ranger and Naturalist only had Vengeance-mode, and so on).
Sounds like Agent KNYFE would be perfect for her FA then!
