DE Disparation: Guessing time! (Ha ha, time travel pun)

Even has a tattoo for it.

I would assume that Wasteland will be the last environment, and Time Cataclysm is later. Wasteland makes sense as a counter to Silver Gulch, a bad future instead of a messed up past. Plus the connections to Chrono Ranger… Though there’s also the Time Cataclysm and Visionary connection…

Okay, scratch that. Went to the wiki and checked the references to the Time Cataclysm deck. Aside from the Visionary stuff, the Cataclysm/Shattering would probably be necessary for the story.

Also… I think Final Wasteland will wait until whatever expansion Biomancer is in. Because he’s the only villain with a connection (however tenuous) there. Of course, in thinking of that, I just thought of something that could be strange or cool… with Biomancer having a generic “Fleshchild” card that says something like “take a random hero character card not in play, this card is that hero; End Phase: Use hero’s power, replacing “hero” with “villain” and vice versa”…

Take a look at the top right deck.

Definitely CON’s bunker! There’s been some super Internet sleuthing going on for this! I know they’ve said Time Cataclysm is more of a series of events rather than a place, but we need it represented somehow. Guess there are still plenty of sets to come…

I’m still left in the dark for Friday’s new villain though. I’ll throw out a random bold prediction of Count Barzakh for someone from a different reality!

Think Free Radical was created too recently?

The Time-Crazed Prisoner art has been updated to have his Free Radical look, so not too recently for that at least.

Apparently NOTHING is too recent for those sneaky buggers! Tuesday: tell Grimm’s story. Friday: reveal him in Disparation! :exploding_head:

So I was on the fence, but thinking about who Grimm’s nemesis could be I’ve come to the decision that these two cards must preview quotes from 2 of the new Hero decks that will be coming.

Lumberjack Tempest and Little Red Riding Alpha are both great. : )

I really like how Grimm’s One-Shots work—they give you the choice to play along with Grimm’s story, but he punishes you if you don’t.

What do y’all think the Role Icon will be? I’m thinking either a book :open_book: :closed_book: or the comedy-tragedy theatre masks :performing_arts:.

I feel like the first line of Tales Retold should read “Summon each Role card in the Villain trash,” not “play.” I don’t really have any reasoning for this; it’s just instinct, so I’m very likely wrong.

Who do y’all think Grimm’s Nemesis will be? Scholar? Argent Adept? (He’s featured more times than anyone else in Grimm’s previewed cards.)

Pretty sure Summon pulls from deck too, so if you want to limit it to trash that wouldn’t work. And Salvage only recovers to hand, so there’s not really an operation word for this result.

Man, I’m reminded of the Bonds from Fey Court. The roles are really, really interesting. With the trigger like the Ennead icons. And to Skywhale’s point, this to me points to Rambler being a full character, despite my earlier reservations. Because Rambler’s main deal, at least my impression of it, is breaking the sort of forced, arbitrary stuff like that.

Oh… what if Rambler’s unique thing will be burying stuff like Roles or the Fey Bonds? (I’m starting to think of them as “untyped” cards… not ongoing or targets.)

Rambler is the Timeshare Cancellation industry of Sentinel Comics.

I was going to make a comment about Rambler being a bit less scammy… then I remember some of the deals he’s made, and… yeah, that fits.

Also… I think of him more as Auron from Final Fantasy 10. The guy that knows how the story goes, and is looking to break it.

Or, one of my favorite lines in Kingdom Hearts 2: “This is MY story. You’re not part of it.”

Okay, hear me out: what if his nemesis is Stuntman?

A villain who tries to fit heroes into storytelling tropes vs. a hero who is a literal action movie star. Both decks featuring lots of cards named after tropes. It kinda fits.

When does Ansel G. Moreau become Stuntman, and does that line up with Tome of the Bizarre Vol. 4?

Either way, fighting Grimm in Champion Studios is going to be hilarious when we get around to that environment.

That is FANTASTIC. : D

But unfortunately very unlikely. : (

Ok, looking things up very quickly: Stuntman’s 1st Appearance is in Oct. 2013 and the Death of Grimm story is in Dec. 2014

So there’s a little bit of crossover. Probably not nemesis territory, but it’s not impossible. It’s also possible Grimm might’ve had a story with Ambuscade previously to seed their rivalry (I’m stretching here admittedly).

Even without a nemesis relationship, a Stuntman vs. Grimm Writer’s Room sounds pretty badass. Also fills in a gap since they recently acknowledged there hasn’t been an Ambuscade Writer’s Room/Creative Process so far.

My crackpot theory (that I don’t believe in the slightest) is that Grimm’s death that they told us about comes because Grimm tries to force Ansel into a story and doesn’t give him the lead role .

My guess is that Grimm’s nemesis would be Rambler. They’ve been leaning pretty hard on building out Rambler stories lately, and they made sure to have him put in appearances in Rook City Renegades.

It’ll be interesting…I never cared for the character, and based on every Rambler story or tidbit we get I like him less and less. But I wonder if he’ll end up being a hero whose deck I enjoy playing even if I dislike him as a character. I might be in a similar situation with Darkstrife and Painstake, too. It can be nice to see Christopher surprise me – happened already with Alpha!

I’m torn on what the next two sets are going to have, but yeah, Rambler seems like the obvious counterpoint to Grimm.

I wonder if we’ll have a whole set for our less heroic heroes - the compromised and the half-hearted. I keep going through the remaining fifteen heroes and trying to figure out what configurations they’re likely to appear in, and Rambler would fit my old theory of having a “Revocorp Presents” set with compromised good guys.
