DE Disparation: Guessing time! (Ha ha, time travel pun)

I did actually send in a question, which was answered in Episode 219:

Ahh ok. I definitely forgot that one.

pretty sure Heroic Termination is Iron Legacy killing Parse when she got too annoying.
If Boldest is what a tanky Legacy looks like what is Scholar going to look like?

There are three types of tanks (in my view, but I have… thoughts on the tank as a classification…), depending on how they deal with incoming damage: Redirection, Mitigation, and Regeneration. EE Glamor is a great example of a deflection tank. Mitigation tanks are normal Legacy, Scholar, and the like. Boldest Legacy looks to be the first Regeneration tank I’ve seen in a while, where he both reduces damage (normal Legacy stuff), and this new power of self-healing.

Scholar… is probably going to be a mix of mitigation and deflection. He’s probably going to have a LOT of reactions, and a lot of area stuff. Maybe even some ongoing that lets him use his reactions when others take damage…

Are you saying Scholar, the hero based around healing himself, isn’t Regeneration at all?

Touche. In my defense, when I’ve played Scholar, the cards usually align poorly for the healing to be a big party of the play.

Well, @FrivYeti called it correctly back in February! And @Dil_Ninja had it split for Chrono-Ranger back in December.

Looks pretty good to me. Nice way to fish for exactly which Bounty you want.

I think this allows you to either bury a card from your hand or in play.
I also have a hope that the sentinels will get four side decks and those side decks will get removed as the sentinels get removed.
A less hopeful thought is that the vengeance style villains will have just side decks played by something similar to shrine of the Enead.

Here’s an aspect of Disparation speculation that I don’t think we’ve touched on much: events. What do y’all think?

Here are my guesses:
Iron Legacy

  • Event: The Final Legacy
  • Critical Event: Others have speculated the Legacy of Destruction

The Dreamer

  • Event: Nightmare World
  • Critical Event: Others have speculated Mr. Jitters

La Capitan

  • ???

Miss Information

  • Critical Event: Others have speculated Glamour

The Ennead

  • Event: The War of Heliopolis

Apostate

  • Event: Either the Last Temptation of Helena or that time when he hid all his relics in the Realm of Discord
  • Critical Event: Matthew?!?! (Others have speculated Hellion)

Grimm

  • ???

Ɔternus

  • ???

Necrosis

  • ???

La Capitan I’m kind of thinking Sliver of Creation for her CE.

Miss Information: we see the front of the card for her CE and we know it’s the story where (non-evil) Aminia Twain is kidnapped by Glamour, so it’s at least modeling that story.

Ennead: hear me out - Inversiverse Ra for the CE.

Apostate CE is heavily implied to be the original Extremeverse story.

Grimm I think the Jack and the Beanstalk thing from the Writers’ Room we got already is likely for regular Event and the Lord of the Harvest they had on deck for him already for the upcoming episode seems possible for CE.

Ɔternus the Ɔternal Torment story that introduced most of the Princes seems likely for regular Event and I’m still hoping for Busybody for CE.

Necrosis: I think some regular story involving him for the regular Event, but I think the original story from Disparation that inspired Naturalist to try to stop that future from happening (resulting in main-continuity Necrosis’s origin story) is possible for the CE.

Interesting. I wonder if that would entail forcing the heroes to switch variants mid-game. That would be wild.

Possibly, but I feel like lots of their cards aren’t really matches for that.

Wasn’t there technically two Ennead stories, the ultimate canon one and the original bad one? Maybe the CE could be the original bad one.

That’s another thought I had, but I wonder at the decision to use one of your limited game product slots on a canonically bad story.

If it was anyone but C&A I’d agree, but we know their sense of humor, lol.

Plus the fact that man, after double-checking the wiki, they just plain do not have stories we’ve heard outside of the main one and its reboot.

Probably the conclusion to the Year of Miss Information for her regular event. Parse in Pike Industries, :bow_and_arrow::test_tube::boom: Aaaiiieeee! Definitely the final death of Miss Information and we won’t see her again with a mask and reality-warping powers.

Based on the CEs for Chairman and the Fey Court only having a single character card, I imagine the Ennead will be a similar case. Inversiverse Ra is a good guess, though if we get Legacy of Destruction I think they won’t want to double up on Inversiverse stuff, so we might get an Egyptian villain from a different issue of Disparation.

I feel like they would’ve announced this if it was actually happening, but I’m still kinda hoping we get some extra CEs for the base game villains. We have so many versions of Baron Blade and Citizen Dawn from Disparation that it seems silly to not get at least one of each.

Ennead could also just be another of Ra’s rogues gallery that we’ve learned about. The Phoenix, Scarab Lord, etc.

Bumping this up as the most active Disparation thread for those living beings who are not spam bots that still frequent this forum. Also a sad reminder that it has been one year since we have seen a card (August 2023 and no, the image of playtesting cards on a table doesn’t count). Not holding out much hope for this August either as the first Tuesday is during Gen Con.

Speaking of, is anyone attending and will GTG have some version of Disparation for the public to try there? The rest of us are starving for more content. Help us, Christopher Badell! You’re our only hope.

You seriously want the card game to bump ahead in queue again? The RPG folks have been waiting for their books since early 2019. GTG has run five kickstarters since then, including both the Definitive Edition ones that have already fulfilled. Going a year without teasers sucks, but it doesn’t begin to match the RPG delays.

I can’t speak to the RPG because I haven’t tried it, but that sounds like a disappointing situation.

I feel like expectations were set high with reveals and fulfillment of DE and RCR, but then Disparation aimed for the sun and got overly ambitious while also having the wrench of health problems thrown into the works. I know GTG is a small company and probably doesn’t have enough employees to support separate teams working on multiple projects.

So yeah, sympathies to the RPG waiters but for the purpose of this thread I bring an outstretched hand asking for any scrap of card game material. I feel like anything will re-energize the community at this point.
