We all knew this discussion was coming. I've been waiting for a while for us to be able to talk about this. But now it's time. Maybe it's a little early? Not necessarily for us playtesters. But I didn't want to cut everyone else out of the discussion. I'm sure we've all got our own thoughts, regardless of what you may know, and what you may not know that you do not know, etc.
The fight of the century: the Freedom Five goes head to head with the Prime Wardens in the fight that will have every reader of Sentinel Comics glued to the pages. It is bound to happen. In a great big multiverse, there's a timeline somewhere in which these two teams lay a heavy smack-down on one another. We'll eventually be able to act out this fight in Sentinel Tactics, but for now...
I'm putting metaphorical money on Team Freedom. I think they'd win because of how well they work together. They've spent years at each others' sides, getting to know what works best with their team. Sure, Prime Wardens work well together as a team, but I can't see them having the finely-tuned coordination that the Freedom Five have spent years mastering. The Freedom team has spent nearly their entire career together--they've always fought together, whereas Wardens (I assume) have been fighting solo for a while, or at least not with their team.
So it's the years of perfected teamwork that give the Freedom Five the victory to me.
I think Freedom Five wins this handily. Captain Cosmic is the only wildcard for me on the Prime Wardens since I don't fully know how his powers work. I think Wraith and Legacy trump a lot of the Prime Warden characters I know.
My money is on the Freedom Five. I believe the Prime Wardens have more raw power, but they don't have the finesse and experience. Haka does by himself, but not with the team.
Argent adept alone can manipulate the F5s heavy reliance on tech and gadgets. We see that dude ripping apart a huge spaceship single handedly. Fanatic can summon the end of freakin days for cryin out loud.
Take out the tech and they are not that scary.
If the F5 got the jump on them, and maybe got gear that couldn't be short circuited by Tempests lightning, they would have a chance because of Legacy.
Speculation is that each core set will represent a given team; personally, I'm more excited to see Omintron X (XI?) than any of the teamed heroes, but I'm sure we'll see the Prime Wardens eventually.
I agree with the Prime Wardens, though I would put Fanatic and Haka on Legacy. I think Tempest and Captain Cosmic would have advange over the other 4 F5 members, and AA adds the team work that the other team has.
Based on deck composition I agree the Prime Wardens likely win. Thematically I see the Freedom Five winning this battle. As it stands to me Legacy is the main trump card. You don't win against the team that has a hero who combines Captain America and Superman. Not to mention the FF have been working as a team longer and more often then the PW.
I agree that the FF have much better team dynamics, but the Prime Wardens have soooo much power. I think the 3 variables to consider are: how well Bunker and Wraith have the fight planned out, how much Tachyon can do early before Tempest gets his storm powers going (those powers and Cosmics will mess her up bad), and how ridiculously OP Legacy is.
