Since the Parse variant is apparently available as of Villains going live – or will be once the whole Apple thing gets resolved – I figured I’d start the topic so we could discuss our efforts in trying to unlock her.
So… Here we are! Discuss!
Since she enters the Fugue State as a result of seeing OblivAeon coming, that doesn't seem to be related to her unlock condition. Might simply have to replicate a part of her backstory that happened before. Parse and the Freedom Five vs. Miss Information is the most obvious, but she's fought a wide range of random baddies, including Progeny. Another possibility is that it's just about one of her own mechanics--she's all about information, which is represented as cards in the game, so it might involve drawing or discarding lots of cards, hoarding them in your hand, or possibly even replicating a "fugue state" by playing with an empty hand for a certain amount of time.
I was thinking something along the lines of "Win against Progeny with Parse the only incapacitated hero", maybe he has to kill her, maybe have a certain set of her cards in play?
First, defeat Spite with Wraith and Parse on the team. Parse must deal the killing blow.
Then defeat Ms Information in the Pike industrial complex. Parse must deal the killing blow
Then face Progeny with a team including Parse. Parse must deal ten points of irreducable damage. Parse must be the only incapacitated hero at the end of the match.
I can only imagine thiss is far too much :P
How do we know when it is open season to start hunting? I assume that they are locked until iOS problems get fixed. Will Variant banners appear? Just curious.
They've made a habit in the past of making announcements in-app and on Twitter, etc. when variant hunts go live.
As an iOS player with a couple of hall of fame spots, I really appreciate that they hold it off until it works for everyone. One of these days, it may not even be iOS that's borked!
There was one update which wasn't borked for iOS but others. Typically though it's been iOS.
It appears Apple has fixed the problem on their servers, and iOS downloads are working again!
The Variant Hunt for Trickster Kismet and Fugue State Parse will begin at 10 AM Eastern on Saturday, to give iOS players a chance to hear the news and get ready.
The hunt is on!
So far, it is not:
Defeat Cosmic Omnitron with Parse as the only incapacitated hero.
Tried replicating the 3 megacomputer in Megalopolis message from the ARG with Parse in the party.
No unlock.
More things I have tried, with no unlock.
Defeat Progeny, with Parse in the lead position.
Defeat Progeny, with Parse as the only incapacitated hero.
Defeat Progeny, with Parse in the party (no incaps), then defeat Cosmic Omnitron, with Parse incapacitated.
Next up: Lose to Progeny (parse not in party), with win against progeny (parse in party).
I tried 3 mega compiters iand 3 critical multipliers out n the freedom tower vs ambuscade and no unlock.
I don’t think it will.be progeny related as she waa absent the early days vs Abkivaeon, but just guessing at thos point.
More things that have not worked:
1. Lose to Progeny, with Parse in the lead position and no member of the F5 on the team. Then, win against progeny with the F5.
I'm starting to wonder if this one is more based around playing specific cards multiple times. I'm going to put together a team that will let me play quick calculation/recompile a boatload of times.
It's NOT defeat Miss Information with Freedom Five (any variant) in Pike Industries (read up on VotM Miss Information's bio), then defeat VotM Miss Information with Parse in the lead. (That second game had Legacy in it though).
We know from the Letters Page that the Skinwalker Gloomweaver fight was the last major event to happen before the OblivAeon event proper began (like the very next issue published after its conclusion was the start of the OblivAeon stuff). Skinwalker Gloomweaver's first appearance was Tome of the Bizarre #34, which is the issue quoted on Parse's card "Updated Intel" (it's also the issue on a few of the Sentinels' cards where the art has them fighting Gloomy).
My thoughts (which I haven't tested yet) involve her, possibly with other characters present in those cards, so Nightmist, Argent Adept, and the Sentinels vs Skinwalker Gloomweaver (or possibly preceded by Agent of Gloom Spite - maybe even the challenge mode combination fight).
She was unlocked (not by me) vs progeny not sure which environment, but teammates were legacy, tachyon, wraith, and Scholar. It seemed to happen on tachyons turn. Not sure of all the details, but hope to hear more soon.

It looks like the likely conditions include:
- Defeating Progeny
- Parse ending at 1 HP
- A certain number of Parse's Ongoings (all of them? Unknown) either in play, or having been played.
And I just got it on the same process. I had 16 of Parse's 18 Ongoings in play (the two that weren't being the other two copies of Reveal the Flaws), so it may be that you don't need all of them to actively be in play, but it's clear that Progeny, Parse at 1 HP, and Parse's Ongoings are the keys.
Given that Reveal the Flaws features Progeny, it's probably one of the necessary ongoings.
Someone on Steam is claiming to have gotten the unlock without Reveal, and with only one copy of each of the others in play. They added "Recompile must be played," which I can't disprove (I played it).
