How are Sentinels and skyscraper promos going to work?

So 2 phase question.

in next set of promos we will get sentinels promos. Have they said yet if we can mix and match the promos teams and original team. See advantages and disadvantages of both. Advantage is you can pick the better of the two powers for each sentinel to be stronger. Disadvantage falls in the same category because you don't want to be able to unbalance the sentinels to the point they become over powered by this method.

for skyscraper how would a set of promos work when it comes to mix and match. For example could you take the small promo and normal and huge regular? Or must you use all original or all promos.

Yes, you can mix and match the Sentinels.

Ok then how would a skyscraper promo work when they finally make one

shrug

Well, how would they stop you from mixing and matching as you felt like? There's lots of people that play with made up rules, and variants of their own and it makes the game more balanced/fun for them.

I would assume Skyscraper promos would work the same as the Sentinels. Mix and match as you feel like (unless they end up comboing with each other so well that it's doesn't make any sense to mix them.)

I'll ask: of the new Sentinels Promos, if you mix and match, which ones do YOU think are the most powerful? I'm torn.

They've said that while you can mix and match, the new Sentinels play best on their own without the mixing and matching.  I expect Sky-Scraper to work similarly.

Sky-Scraper's promo will be three new character cards: Tinier, Huger, and Normaler. It's gonna be great.

Nope. She's switching to Starbucks mode. Tall, Grande, and Venti.

Beware: Rants on this will lead to a long, obnoxious, and pretentious explanation of the history of Starbucks cup sizes. You have been warned.

I thought the Starbucks promo was the Naturalist is a space suit.

Have they replaced the mermaid in the logo with Tempest in the Sentinels' corner of the multiverse?

So to lead this back to a productive discuss. Like Nate said above. What combo of sentinels do you think will be the best.

Productive discussion?! You're not from around these here parts are you?

I would guess that the "best" set of The Sentinels is subjective, depending on many factors, including metagame elements such as which cards you draw, even if the same environment/villain set up was used multiple times.

You asked for it.

It started out as Tall and Small. Then as consumers demanded more obnoxious sizes, they added the "grande," which was by comparison, "big." After that was "Venti" (20 oz drinks), and "small" was phased out of regular sizes, and mostly used for child-sized drinks. At a glance, the sizes don't really even make sense anymore, but there you have it.

I knew my experience at Starbucks would come in handy!

And there I was just asking for a cup of coffee (decaff).

Have to admit all this sizing stuff pushes my "I hate jargon" buttons pretty hard. Why make things more confusing than they need to be for newcomers?

Assuming they're not a complete snob, you should be able to get away with asking for a "small/medium/large." That' typically denotes "tall/grande/venti."

But we can't always assume, can we? Chances are, the barista will be a coffee snob.

During playtesting, when asked, Christopher stated that the intent was for the Sentinels to be one set or the other, but there wasn't going to be any rule or anything, it is officially okay to do, but not the original intent.  If that matters to you.

Personally I would say promo Mainstay, Idealist, Writhe, original Medico is the best.  Medico healing other heroes that Idealist can now protect, while Writhe's higher hp works with his signature and Mainstay is awesome making damage irreducible while dealing damage.  One of my favorite base powers.

I would expect promo Scrapper to be less friendly to mix and match, but you never know with Christopher.

Sky-scraper works so well with her current sizes/powers that I'm having difficulty thinking of possible promo powers for her. They'd have to be fairly minor modifications, IMO. Working  with a team instead of having to do it alone in the arena might change her a little. A little weaker personally, but a better team player. Maybe her new normal could play a card on top of a deck, give her one card draw, and her tiny could move link cards to other targets without destroying them/reveal cards on top of other decks? Huge could do damage to a smaller number of targets, without ally damage, or redirect damage to herself.

Anyway, my question was mainly to you morph:

I understand if you've changed your mind on this point, but when you first posted that, did you have any of the sentinels powers in mind?

Idealist: The Idealist deals one target 2 psychic damage; Adamant Idealist: The Idealist deals 1 target 1 Psychic Damage. Reduce damage dealt by a target dealt damage this way by 1 until the start of your next turn.

Dr Medico: 1 Hero Target Regains 3 HP; Adamant Dr Medico: Each of the Sentinels regain 1 HP. You may draw a card.

Mainstay: Reduce Damage Dealt to all your Hero Targets by 1 until the start of your next turn; Adamant Mainstay: Mainstay deals 1 target 2 Melee Damage. The next damage dealt to that target is irreducible.

Writhe: Reveal the bottom card of a Deck. Discard it or put it on the top of that Deck; Adamant Writhe: The next time a non-hero target is destroyed, you may move it to the bottom of its deck instead of the trash.

Personally, when Sky-Scraper gets her promos, I am hoping the Tiny's power will have her deal 2 sonic damage to every target with a link card next to them.

But Christpher also said that we should mix and match them during playtesting so we could make sure they all worked in various combinations, because he knew that people would play them like that anyway.

So they are designed with mixing in mind, at least.

Christopher also said he wanted to eat a Kangaroo, which he totally did last PAX Australia.
