Is Spirit Island set in Sentinel Comics?

Pretty much the subject line. I wonder if Haka has visited.

Honestly, I don't know, but since GtG didn't originally design it, there is a good chance it isn't. In one of the podcasts, Christopher was talking about GSF and how everyone wanted an SotM crossever. He said he could put La Capitan in GSF, but it would be totally against the story.  Itonly in there to please the fans and increase sales, which, as a very selfish company, he would never compromise the story to do.

In other words, I have no idea.

I think it could be set in Sentinel Comics without gratuitous and hackneyed crossovers.

I don't know. I don't even know if it would matter.

Given that from the context, it seems like it would be set in a time period before even the first Legacy was around, I'd doubt that it would matter, unless you want to shove Akash'Bhuta or and older Virtuoso of the Void in there. But I don't think Christopher is the sort to force his narrative into someone else's game.

I honestly don't think it will be. The art is going to be stylistically very different, for starters.

(Also, Tactics was originally designed outside of >G, but it's in the Sentinels universe, so… )

Haka could be old enough. And he's from a similar sort of island nation. His bio specifically mentions repelling foreign invaders, as Aata.

Just sayin'.

The big deal would be the existence of specific spirits in the Multiverse.

AA is a bartender.

...okay Pydro?

There's no reason that those spirits or anything like them would have to exist anywhere else. Maybe after it's all done, the spirits figured out how to hide the island, Themyscira-style.

Just to confirm, when Christopher was explaining the game, he said that at this point the island is the only place left where the spirits exist.

That’s the first thing I think of when I see spirits.

Ah, gotcha.

I understand, wasn't trying to imply significant overtones, just that we don't have any localized spirits in the Multiverse as of right now.  It would be new.

It would make a fantastic environment deck mini-expansion.

Perhaps a new hero could emerge from the results of the game...

Don't the spirits become more corporeal as the game advances?

So, couldn't one of them restore "balance" to the island and head out into the rest of the world seeking to restory nature elsewhere?

Sounds like an epic Prime Warden addition to me...

Listening to the giant fire-breathing robot podcast now, it is striking me that in Spirit Island the players are basically playing the role of Akash'Bhuta.

But Akash wouldn't care about the natives, she'd just be all about making new stuff and breaking it again.

I really hope that Spirit Island is nothing to do with the Multiverse. Controversial? Maybe.

I either want a new product to be definitely a Sentinels game with superhero characters and fighting villains and such (like Tactics) or I want it to be a totally seperate game. Don't give me something that's just vaguely Sentinels-flavoured for no real reason.

I guess it's kinda like the fact that I really like vegetarian foods, although I also occasionally eat meat. I'm good with a tasty grilled steak or a juicy piece of chicken and I'm good with a pepper stuffed with halloumi and lemon and pine nuts, or a bean chilli, but I'm not so keen on steak-flavoured soya protein or a chilli made with veggie mince (that fake ground beef stuff). The mileage of vegetarians may vary, but my analogy stands.

This is all a thought exercise anyway. I highly doubt it will ever be mentioned, and I doubt there will be any connection. The art is the main reason for that. It sounds like the art will be interesting, unique, and not even slightly comic booky. But if people want to set it there, in their heads? Why not?

I don't think so. I think there will be a lot of folks who want this. I'm definitely one of them.
