- Creative Process: C&A take some of the hero and villain illustrations in the Sentinel Comics RPG Core Rulebook and make them into minor characters (e.g. Freedom Academy students, jobber-henchmen, etc.).
I thought Christopher and Adam specifically said they didn’t want to do that?
That those were there for players to use as inspiration, and they didn’t want to assign anything to the art, themselves?
It sounds like something they might say but it’s always worth submitting. They might change their minds.
Not going to happen. When’s the last time the podcast had any actual mechanical content for the RPG anyway? They still haven’t posted a FAQ collating the scattershot answers we did get way back when.
FWIW I did the crunchy part of the hero writeups for two of them back in June 2023. One of them even got two variants, one stupidly complicated and other more normal. Nobody else wanted to do their own (which is what you’re going to have to do if you want them) so I quit after that to work on my own stuff.
That’s fair.
Or they might forget they said that and do it, anyway! ![]()
So, since someone asked about the possibility of an April Fools episode this year, here’s an idea that might be funny.
The silver-age, pre-internet clickbait “Super-dickery” covers are pretty funny, and some of the stories behind the hilarious covers feel like the cover came first and the writers worked backwards. So, how about they do just that.
Christopher and Adam come up with a ridiculous, clickbaity silver-age cover that makes them laugh, and then afterwards come up with a story to justify it. Bonus points if the justification doesn’t involve mind control or impersonation.
We already have one story within this vein, but you could take it even more ridiculous.
oh god, yes, please ![]()
Upon reviewing the SMDE: Disparation rulebook preview…
A story arc that establishes:
Nightmist as nemesis for Abbados
and/or
Rambler as nemesis for Greezigrax
and/or
Another non-Soul Twin hero as nemesis for an Æternal Prince
I would just like to call attention to the fact that it is now August of 2025. In this month, in the Metaverse, issue #100 of all the first wave of post-OblivAeon titles was to have been published. I can only assume that was going to have been a colossal crossover event. So, by the time the podcast starts up again, this event will have been in the past, so perhaps C&A could talk about it. (Assuming, of course, that the real-world disaster facing Sentinel Comics was not reflected in the Metaverse, the same way the fate of Vertex was.)
I’d assume that at least a few of the titles have been cancelled before reaching #100s, but there’s probably still plenty to do that sort of event with.
They also seem reluctant on doing RPG stories so who knows if they will when they come back.
That’s true, but current events may have taught them a lesson about holding on to stories for too long. And it’s quite possible the RPG will not survive as a product line, which would also discourage holding on to those stories.
I personally think there’s a difference between telling stories that confine the creative space of GMs, and ones that flesh out the setting into what C&A already have in their heads. But time will tell where their feelings coalesce.
