He’s also the Big Bad behind the RPG’s Terror Forms adventure, and there’s basically no real information on him there for people who didn’t already know him from the podcast. So yeah, probably help if he got a further spotlight. Be even better if the story was post-Oblivaeon for the much-neglected roleplaying side of the community. How the blazes he got his grubby mitts on plans for a custom giant robot built to amplify his powers is unclear, and designing it himself seems well outside his wheelhouse.
Yeah, when I proposed playing against Necrosis in our recent game, folks were asking me who he was and other lore-based questions, and I didn’t have many answers.
Getting more lore and other details on Necrosis would be good.
And what we do know…well, telling people he was accidentally created by the Naturalist probably doesn’t instill terror, y’know?
“So the notorious screwup hero screwed up and this guy’s the result? Maybe we should just leave him to Pool Shark and go deal with a real threat like Tire Fire?”
Maybe the giant robot thing was just a desperate attempt to be taken seriously. I feel like that must happen a lot, villains can be so insecure under all the bluster.
It’s not the first time. For RCR we still don’t have much lore for Terrorform or the Bear. Neither have had their own episode. I’d also count Soultaker GloomWeaver to a degree. While we know GloomWeaver, this is not an event that they’ve really discussed. Given that Necrosis is the one we know the least about is on par.
It would honestly be very helpful to get the relevant episodes, old format or not, after an expansion releases, just for this reason. I definitely would not mind waiting for a few to be able to vote on new topics.
I feel like even Terrorform had more info when he was introduced than Necrosis had or still has. He’s tied to Revocorp and Akash’Mecha, stuff we were already familiar with when his Kickstarter update released, and we got an overview of his 1st event and a list of his later ones. Plus we only had to wait 11 months to get his deck, instead of 17+ months for Necrosis.
But I do agree we also still need episodes for several RCR critical events. Though the ones I’m most interested in look like their gonna be waiting 'til September and November because of the month theming.
I honestly feel we know a similar amount. We have their origins and then the idea they have plots. However, we don’t have much in depth on those plots. Terrorform has slightly more info because we have the deck and CE and if Disparation were out now we’d be at the same spot for Necrosis to me. Though I find it interesting both are pretty well tied to Naturalist and Akash’Thriya. Regardless, I would like more on both and they’ll certainly be on my topic suggestion for next month.
On another run through the podcast, I just hit Ed Note #35, where they mentioned topics that we’ve still not had, like GLOBAL Creative Process and For Profit Creative Process. Definitely need to bring those back around!!!
G.L.O.B.A.L. maybe if they’re willing to divulge any potential RPG material. Even having never played it I want to hear stories from that era.
For Profit is only part of a dead product unless they get introduced in some other format, no?
They actually said they have plans for it in other ways, too.
There have been mentions of it in the RPG universe. Highbrow in charge, and the Adhesivist doing something that’s somewhat villainous but not enough to make his wife angry.
Just amusedly noting that we finally got all of these episodes voted in at some point; only took two years.
So, seeing Parse’s card in the latest Backerkit preview, my 1st thought was how strong it would be that Parse could allow Setback to collect the exact lucky card he needs for a given situation. And that lead into thinking that a Parse/Setback team-up story might be fun.
We’ve seen Setback’s powers be read into by magic users a couple times, so it might be fun to see how Parse’s perception and scientific mindset understand them. Do his luck powers confuse Parse’s ability to see weak points, or can she perceive the possible outcomes and adjust things to make Setback more effective?
IDK, might be fun, might be too broad, but I think there’s something there.
That would be interesting. We know that Expatriette does plan excessively and that’s how she has contingencies for Setback’s unluck. But Parse/Darkwatch team-up, especially if Parse’s ways to use Setback’s unluck run counter to Expatriette’s contingencies…
Prompted by this post, which explains why the Green Goblin is a big deal even during the two decades in which Norman Osborn is dead: A story in which Voss is the villain, but not really. I don’t mean a Voss proxy, like Censor or Vyktor, but a story in which it seems like it really is Rainek kel’Voss returned, but turns out not to be.
I am now picturing a scene with big intimidating Voss with his back to the heroes slowly turning around to face them and it is Wagermaster’s dorky little face on the warlord body.
