Omintron X and friends

AA always seemed to me like a kind of intense dude and not the relaxed stoner type.

I have often thought of Argent Adept as a "super bard" after all, regular bards can't usually cut space ships in half with a bell :stuck_out_tongue:

As for his attitude, I look at scherzo of Frost and Flame, and whatever one has the horrid arachnid on it and say this dude is simply unimpressed, perhaps with a slight air of superiortity

Yeah, AA always strikes me as a little uptight/melodramatic rather than stoner to me, "To me, heroes!  We shall win this day!" while standing in a power stance with one arm raised doesn't seem too chill to me.  And on Vernal Sonata Tempest is taking a little time out to pet the doggy (favourite.art.ever, close second is him talking to the fish) while Argent looks all solemn in the bg.

Fixer, on the other hand perhaps shouldn't be above suspicion, after all he's smoking on basically all of his cards. He told you punched a dragon in the face with a tiger claw of pure lightning?  He's been coming out with these stories ever since that guy from downtown Rook City sold him some medicinal herbs to help with his arthritis.

I'd thought about Fixer as a stoner, but he strikes me as more of a Miagi type. Yeah, he probably uses it to relax and meditate, but not in the same way Scholar wakes up, gets baked, decides his old robe is the best outfit for battle, and departs.

See, I don't think the Scholar is actually stoned. I think he's just reached a higher plane of understanding and exists in copacetic union with the universe.

AKA he's probably on LSD

I also imagine The Scholar gets annoyed by his superhero name. I always picture him cringing every time someone uses the name and muttering to himself  "I'm not 'The' Scholar... I never said I was 'The' Scholar, man... I just said 'I'm no hero, man... I'm just 'A' Scholar"

I dunno... that bath robe says "stoner" way more than it says "higher plane of understanding" to me ;)

....Have you ever worn a bathrobe? All. Day. Long?

I'm just saying, I think he's reached a level of wisdom that we can only aspire to.

spoony bard!

Best video game ever

Almost… You're two games early. ;p

I just thought he was a hoopy frood.

Cult of the New

4 and 6 are so fucking sublime.  I think which ever one you play first is the one you hang your hat on.  That being said:

Lynkfox is right.  It's the best game ever made.  And who wants to argue with the fine person that gave us Sentinels Stat Tracking

In fairness, 4 is the SECOND best video game ever. For the record I played them each when they were released, so technically by that heuristic FF1 should be my fave (it's not).

4 bests out 7. by a small margin, but it’s mostly for her useless materia that 4 wins.

I was talking 6. Thanks Japan for thinking that America is dumb and making the numbering system for your awesome games all confusing. 7 for me is a bit lower, but a lot of that is I got a Playstation pretty late and it was already fairly dated by the time I had a chance to play it so I'm probably biased.

The opera scene still really impresses me (have you heard the Black Mages orchestral version of it OMG) and the overall bold structure of the game are what cements 6 into its top position, IMO. The villain wins halfway through the game, you're stuck on an island fishing to save an old man, and then you get to go around and freely visit all the places you saw before to see the full impact of what happened and follow up on a bunch of subplots? How flippin cool is that!

I have...absolutely no idea what you guys are talking about ;). Well, I gather it's some kind of game series but it's clearly one I haven't played...

Melonball hit it on the head for me.  I played 4 before 6 (2 &3 here in 'Merika) and fell in love.  6 is probably the better game mechanically, but I'll always love 4 more.

I'm not firing up my Wii virtual console right now or anything...

Final Fantasy, specifically 4 and 6, which were released as 2 and 3 on the Super Nintendo in USA
