My buddy loves Kefka so much, he made Kefka's midi theme his ringer on my phone.
Came here looking for someone to mention the Breath of Fire games. I am not disapointed.
For you Chrono Trigger/Rap fans out there...

(There are bad words and such. This isn't Will Smith.)
O-X and Mr. Chomps ala John and Garfield. Discuss.
I think I've technically missed the video game discussion, but I don't care. I never get to talk about video games anymore.
On the Final Fantasy debate, it is safe to say that 6 and 4 are the best the series has to offer (in that order) and the third place game is 9. All three had a certain charm to their characters that kept the player intrested enough to continue playing, just to see what would happen to them. Now, it should be noted that I began playing video games as a way to experience more interactive books, which is why I generally play RPGs and didn't enter the world of other genres (except fighting) for years and years after I started. Anywho, I put characters above pretty much everything else when it comes to my gaming.
And, because of that, I shall now plug my favourite game series: Tales of... This is a series that rarely has a fantastic story, is always fun to play, and usually gives their cast several shining moments, thanks in no small part to the skits that litter the later games. You see the characters as heroes, but also as individual people, dealing with standard things. Legendia is (and with how RPGs are heading straight to the crapper of late, probably always will be) my favourite in the series, and possibly off all the games I've played. Tales of Legendia is the only game I've played where the credits roll and I don't harbor any ill will toward any main cast member. It's great that the cast had reason for their behaviour.
This is coming from the guy that writes character analyses for fun.
But, yeah. OmniX is a cool cat, too.
Really I feel this way about most media. If you look at Firefly, yeah they had a cool world, but some of the missions/episodes were not that amazing. What was amazing was the characters, their reactions and their interactions. That made even mundane events seem awesome. You can get away with a lot of mediocrity in certain aspects if the characters are loved (or even hated sometimes).
