Preferred / Favorite Super Power?

I was a little surprised I didn't find a thread like this already when I went digging for it. (Maybe we did it on the old forums...)

If you could have a super power, what would it be? Why? How would you use it?

Personally, I'd love to be able to teleport. I really dislike wasting time getting places. I don't like text forms of communications, as they tend to create misunderstandings and other issues, so if I could teleport I could just go to the person and talk, instead. (When it's appropriate and the other person is okay with it, of course. ![](upload://lNCUQFYSA7ZMqVCMtPuFwzz40RT.gif))

First thing I would do is open a delivery service - for folks who really, truly, need it delivered this minute.

I would also make myself available to emergency response teams for situations in which they need to get into a place that they can't physically reach but a person could fit in.

How about you?

Time Control. Period. The ability to speed up, slow down, or even stop time would be perfect and so useful. It even covers my close second of super speed.

I've always thought this power set would be wierd.  Are you immune to your power?  If not stopping time would be rather permanent.  If you are immune it would be wierd, because you would be growing older normally while everyone else wasn't.  You'd want to be immune to your own power and also immortal, which would make you nearly a god.

I always liked the Danger Sense powers, one of my favorite M&M characters had that and a tactical ability that let her evaluate anything she looked at in a split second.  Neither the GM nor I realized how broken that combo would be.  If only I had made her an archer. (she was a martial artist, but not a powerful one)

That would be my favorite power set, Parse with Danger sense.

My second choice is from a sci-fi campaign with tech based enhancements to humans, I had a crazy inventor who could rebuild things into new things really fast, used to take laser weapons and turn them into force fields and grenades, it was insanely fun.  That kind of character works better in a sci-fi setting than current day.  The mechanics we made up for the power was awesome, streamlined and lots of fun, you could create almost anything you wanted, most of them made up on the spot, and almost all of them would blow up after using them.  I loved that character.

Perfect control of my body down to the cellular level.  By "perfect" I mean that I could control it all consciously but could leave it on auto-pilot when desired.

Thus, no lasting diseases or injuries unless I wanted to keep the scars as mementos.  Free plastic surgery.  Whatever physique I felt like having.  Regeneration (speed would be difficult, unless I could adjust biological processes to the point where I could speed up that healing to ridiculous levels) meaning that damage would have to kill me outright to do anything.  Aging would cease to be a factor in my life, and sleep might become a thing I do only if I feel like passing some time in that manner.  There's the potential for shapeshifting over time, possibly even allowing a reconstruction of the body to permit things like functional wings, deep-sea exploration, or photosynthesis.

I'd like TK, that'd be cool. And I wouldn't just use it on objects - I'd use it on myself and get two powers for the price of one :D.

I'd love to be able to pull off the power of the "Sneaky Squeaker" from The Stick of Truth game.

And no I would no use my powers for good

Portal creation. It has so many uses (not least dealing with commutes...)

Yeah, if teleportation wouldn't allow me to take things/people with me, I agree: portal creation.

For me it would be time control.  I probably just move keep my own time bubble so I still had time.   Then I could fix mistakes and get things done very quickly.   Quickly for everyone else, anyway.  And I could slow time to save people from nasty situations.  Especially if I could take people or things with me.

As a useful power I would like the power of telelocation, the ability to know where anything is at anytime by just thinking about. Like an instant GPS on anything I want.

For pure joy I would say flying... I don't think there would be a more ecstatic experience than soaring through the air. I have done skydiving a few times and did crazy bungee jumps and canyon swing while traveling and I don't think there is a more exhilarating experience anywhere. Plus it would make travel abroad so much cheaper!!

I used to like teleportation before, but I am a public transit commuter nowadays and have found the experience to be incredibly grounding and fulfilling. Just the realization that I don't have to get there right now and can just enjoy the journey has made a much more patient and balanced person.

I like the idea of time control but I don't think it would work, mostly because I don't really think time itself exists as a separate force... but that's a philosophical discussion better left for a long night with a few drinks :)

Flight. The relative freedom to "get away from it all" easily.

Given that I already have Extreeeeeme Handsomeness, amazing deductive abilities and later edit <apparently the ability to lose part of my posts between writing it and posting it> as a power it seems a bit greedy to have another but if you insist...

Luck, I'll take luck. The ability to have things just happen to/for me while I don't necessarily need to take an active part in the events, yeah, that suits me right down to the ground (and not just because I was born a Friday the 13th).

My 13th birthday was a Friday the 13th.

I was born on the 31st.  it was a Yadirf though.

One that I've heard discussed it the inability to take damage from falling. Which would be very cool.

I'd like the ability to learn anything by observing it once. Hear someone speaking another language? You are now fluent in that language. Watch someone dance? You are now an excellent dancer.

That, or the kind of inhuman physical resiliance that action movie heroes seem to have.

I guess mine was too then

So basically, you can just watch anyone else use their super power and then you'll be able to use it, too. This sounds pretty sweet.

What power would I want? The ability to think of a comeback immediately, and not two days after the fact.

So is your mom!

I could really use that power right about now…
