SCUverse Game 3 - Haka, Tempest, Fanatic vs. Kismet in "Time Cataclysm"

Dear Luminos, please post your turn at your convenience.

Did I miss something? I can’t see Kismet’s turn.

I too was waiting for Kismet.

facepalm  I forgot that I only did the Environment turn this time, and assumed I was done.  Not up for it tonight, but tomorrow for sure.

Okay, stupid me is finally getting on with this game.  Again, sorry.  I seem to recall that I had picked out a card play for this turn back when I posted the environment, and that I was making sure all my ducks were in a row before I resolved it, but I no longer remember what it might have been, so I shuffled up her remaining 10 cards in deck that haven't been bottomed yet, and pulled two new ones for the actual turn.  It's possible that I had not actually played out the turn, but just knew it was going to involve Kismet flipping and didn't want to take things for granted; either way, I don't recall what the previous play might have been, so we'll just move on.

"THAT'SMINEG@%D*$#*TYOUS%*!!FACEDSONOFAB%#&@GIVEITBACKBEFOREIF&!#$*KILLYOURSTUPIDA@&!"  The thief's mocking self-confidence almost instantly transmutes into screaming, vulgarity-spouting psychotic rage, the sentence structure of which is soon reduced to complete shrieking incoherence, the instant Haka's fingers close about the little clay disk.  This outburst is accompanied by various cataclysmic events - fire hydrants bursting in a four-block radius, car alarms going off, transformers blowing and so forth - which you prefer to believe are lingering aftereffects of the freak earthquake, and were not directly caused (possibly along with the earthquake itself) by this burst of howling insanity, from a clearly-unstable woman who claims to have godlike Gypsy powers.

Round Five

Kismet - Charmed Scoundrel [42]

In Play: The Talisman [5] (Haka), Shaky Arm (Haka), Two Left Feet (Fanatic), Lady Luck

Trash:  Karmic Disjunction, Unlucky Break, Shaky Arm, Imminent Destruction, Fortune's Smile, Violent Trickster, Hapless Strike.

Deck:  10 x ?, Imminent Destruction, Weak Heart, Scattered Mind x2.

--------------------------------------------------------

Start of Turn:  Totally flipping the f*** out.

Play a Card:  Glass Jaw is played; Two Left Feet to the bottom.

End of Turn:  Kismet regains 1 HP from Lady Luck, then deals 6 holy-mackerel-listen-to-the-mouth-on-that-crazy-chick damage to Haka [14].

-------------------------------------------------------

Kismet - Deranged Miscreant [43]

In Play: The Talisman [5] (Haka), Shaky Arm (Haka), Two Left Feet (Fanatic), Lady Luck, Glass Jaw (Haka).

Trash: Karmic Disjunction, Unlucky Break, Shaky Arm, Imminent Destruction, Fortune's Smile, Violent Trickster, Hapless Strike.

Effects: AEOVT, Kismet regains HP equal to the number of Lucky cards in play, then deals the 2+damage-on-Talisman psychic damage to the highest-HP hero.  ASOVT, if Kismet didn't flip, she deals the Talisman 2 irreducible psychic damage.  Reduce damage dealt by Haka by 1 and increase damage dealt to him by 1.  Whenever Fanatic plays a card, she deals herself 1 melee damage.  If a villain card would be destroyed, either it isn't or a Lucky card enters play to replace it.  Increase any damage dealt by Kismet this round by 1.

Deck:  10 x ?, Imminent Destruction, Weak Heart, Scattered Mind x2

Hero HP:  Fanatic 4, Haka 14, Tempest 17.

This is likely a really good place for me to use End of Days. It will get rid of a bunch of jinxes and lady luck is less dangerous on this side than the other. We’ll lose some useful cards, but we might not survive otherwise. If there are any objections to this plan let me know. I’ll post my turn in a bit, but I’ll be open to revising it if needed.

Fanatic

HP: 3

Hand: End of days, Final Dive, Holy Nova, Smite the Transgressor, Undaunted, Absolution

Deck: ?x22, End of Days, Final Dive, Absolution, Smite the Transgressor, Sacrosanct Martyr, Chastise, Chastise, Prayer of Desperation

In Play: Aegis of Resurrection

Trash: Brutal Censure, Consecrated Ground, Embolden

Start of Turn:

Play a Card: Play End of Days, take 1 damage [2].

Use a Power: Base power against Kismet [41]

Draw a Card: [Undaunted, Brutal Censure] I deck Undaunted and keep Brutal Censure.

End of Turn:

HP: 2

Hand: Final Dive, Holy Nova, Smite the Transgressor, Undaunted, Absolution, Brutal Censure

In Play: End of Days, Aegis of Resurrection

Deck: ?x20, End of Days, Final Dive, Absolution, Smite the Transgressor, Sacrosanct Martyr, Chastise, Chastise, Prayer of Desperation, Undaunted

Trash: Brutal Censure, Consecrated Ground, Embolden

Additional Effects: take 1 damage each time when I play a card.

EoD is a good idea. Also, I think you have 3 life not 2 but I may have counted wrong.

Haka

Start: Nothing

Play: Vitality Surge [16 Hp] [Draw Ground Pound, Dominion at bottom of deck]

Power: Taiaha Kismet [39], and Talisman [3]

Draw: HoS, deck Vitality Surge

End: Nothing

EDIT: Changed power

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hp: 16

Hand: HoS, Gound Pound, Punish the Weak, HoB, Enduring Intercession.

In Play: Talisman [5], Shaky Arm, Glass Jaw, Dominion, Savage Mana, Taiaha.

Trash: Taiaha, HoR, Vitality Surge, Savage Mana.

Effects: -1 Damage dealt, +1Damage Taken.

The Talisman won’t be able to do very much right now because End of Days will cause Kismet to go through her deck and get a lucky card no matter what we do. You could try it on the hope that you force her to discard a dangerous jinx, but other wise not a big deal. Use your damage on whatever seems best to you. There are multiple valid plays.

Hey Odin, do you mind if I make a special request? Could you flash flood the quake? I ask because I just realized that with Edwin controlling what it targets, he can cause a lot of mischief with it. Like by say, trying to destroy one of the jinxes in an effort to getting out an extra lucky card.

Hm.  It would not be entirely suited to the spirit of Envisioner's houserule for me to choose both of the cards destroyed by Quake.  Perhaps I should say that I choose a villain ongoing to destroy, you guys choose a hero ongoing to destroy, and I roll dice to determine whether the Quake destroys itself or some other Enviro card.  (Not that it will matter if you Flash Flood it of course.  How exactly a flash flood un-worsens an earthquake, I don't know....)

Sorry it took me a while I've had a busy last couple of days, hanging out with a friend recovering from illness, and so i have not been on the forums. Now, if you played EoD wouldn't that get rid of the every environment. If that is the case I would like to skip my play (not power) and then use reclaim from the deep next turn so we get some of our best cards back. I will post my turn after I hear back. I don't want to mess this up for us.

It will get rid of the environment, but order of operations will have the beginning of environment effects go off in the order the cards were played, I think.

Tempest

HP: 17

In Play: Otherwoldly Resilience, cleansing downpour

Hand: Flash Flood, Reclaim from the Deep, Cleansing downpour, Elemental subwave inducer

Deck: hail storm, shielding winds, cyclone, shielding winds, lightning slash, electrical storm and ????

Trash: Chain Lightning, Lightning Slash, into the stratosphere

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Start: Nothing

Play: Flash Flood (remove earthquake and the bulldozer)

Power: Cleansing Downpour (each hero regains 2 hp)

Draw: reclaim from the deep (deck electrical storm)

End: nothing

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HP: 19

In Play: Otherwoldly Resilience, cleansing downpour

Hand: Reclaim from the Deep x2, Cleansing downpour, Elemental subwave inducer

Deck: hail storm, shielding winds, cyclone, shielding winds, lightning slash, electrical storm x2 and ????

Trash: Chain Lightning and Lightning slash, into the stratosphere, flash flood

Effects: Reduce damage dealt to Tempest by 1 (otherwordly Resilience)

Each Hero regains 2 hp.

So Haka should draw 2 cards from Flash Flood, then one card when End of Days goes off. Standing orders for end of days is to take out the last environment target first, then Lady Luck, then everything else after a lucky card shows up letting lady luck die.

EXT. - CENTERVILLE, LATE AFTERNOON

As the sun slips beneath the horizon, an eerie stillness falls over the battlefield.

[s]Time Cataclysm[s] A Normal Day Evening In Centerville

In Play:  Tendrils of Madness [2].

Trash:  FILTER Spy, Rampaging Bulldozer, Quake.

Deck: 9 x ?, Fixed Point, Rift in Time, Passing Tumbleweed.

Start of Turn: The Days End, well, one of them at least.  All non-character cards are destroyed other than Aegis of Resurrection.  Haka draws one more card from the destruction of Tendrils (having drawn two off Tempest's Flash Flood).  Resolution is interrupted by the Lady Luck effect; the card is destroyed, but Fortune's Smile enters play, so Kismet regains 3 HP [42] and deals each hero 1 psychic damage [Fanatic 4, Haka 17, Tempest 18], then plays another card.  Karmic Disjunction enters play and Glass Jaw goes to the bottom; of the top four cards of Kismet's deck, Weak Heart enters play and immediately leaves play, while Violent Trickster, Inconceivable Obstruction, and Hapless Strike are returned to the top of Kismet's deck in a random order.  The remaining three Jinxes are then destroyed along with various hero cards.

Play a Card:  Surprise Shopping Trip enters play (just a little too late, alas; would be so much fun to have that out while Lady Luck ground through about six Jinxes before being destroyed).  Main Computer Room to the bottom.

End of Turn:

In Play:  Surprise Shopping Trip

Trash:  FILTER Spy, Rampaging Bulldozer,  Quake, Tendrils of Madness.

Deck: 5 x ?, Fixed Point, Rift in Time, Passing Tumbleweed, Oppressive Smog, Main Computer Room.

Effects:  When a card enters play, a mysterious "something" deals each target 1 melee damage.  Destroy this effect at SOET.

It doesn't last.

Round Six

Kismet - Deranged Miscreant [42]

In Play: The Talisman [3] (Haka).

Trash:  Karmic Disjunction, Unlucky Break, Shaky Arm, Imminent Destruction, Fortune's Smile, Violent Trickster, Hapless Strike, Fortune's Smile, Karmic Disjunction, Lady Luck, Weak Heart, Shaky Arm, Glass Jaw, Two Left Feet.

Deck:  (randomly: Violent Trickster, Hapless Strike, Inconceivable Obstruction), Unlucky Break, Imminent Destruction, Weak Heart, Scattered Mind x2, Two Left Feet, Glass Jaw.

Start of Turn:  Deals 2 irreducible psychic damage to The Talisman [1].

Play a Card:  I'll roll a D6/2 to determine which of the next three cards remains on the top of Kismet's deck while the other two are chosen between for this play.  I rolled a 3, so Hapless Strike is the odd man out.  Violent Trickster goes to the bottom, while Inconceivable Obstruction enters play and triggers SST.  Each of the heroes takes 1 damage [Fanatic 3, Haka 16, Tempest 17], the Talisman goes to 0 HP and then to 7 and leaves Haka's possession, then damage attempts to hit Kismet, triggering Obstruction.  Crushing Hallway is discarded, so no chain-reaction for me; awuh.  Shoulda gone with the Computer Room, I guess.

End of Turn:  Kismet regains 1 HP from Inconceivable Obstruction (canceling the damage from SST), then deals 2 the-venomous-gaze-of-a-thwarted-madwoman damage to Tempest [15].

Kismet - Deranged Miscreant [42]

In Play: The Talisman [7], Inconceivable Obstruction.

Trash:  Karmic Disjunction, Unlucky Break, Shaky Arm, Imminent Destruction, Fortune's Smile, Violent Trickster, Hapless Strike, Fortune's Smile, Karmic Disjunction, Lady Luck, Weak Heart, Shaky Arm, Glass Jaw, Two Left Feet.

Deck:  Hapless Strike, Unlucky Break, Imminent Destruction, Weak Heart, Scattered Mind x2, Two Left Feet, Glass Jaw, Violent Trickster.

Hero HP:  Fanatic 3, Haka 16, Tempest 15.

“Your foul influence cannot prevent good from prevailing,” Shouts Fanatic, before making another run at Kismet (while also fighting a crowd for something that just went on sale, apparently). Fanatic is just bruised and beat up at this point, but shows no signs of loss of enthusiasm.

Fanatic

HP: 3

Hand: Final Dive, Holy Nova, Smite the Transgressor, Undaunted, Absolution, Brutal Censure

Deck: ?x20, End of Days, Final Dive, Absolution, Smite the Transgressor, Sacrosanct Martyr, Chastise, Chastise, Prayer of Desperation, Undaunted

In Play: Aegis of Resurrection

Trash: Brutal Censure, Consecrated Ground, Embolden, End of Days

Start of Turn:

Play a Card: Brutal Censure, everything takes 1 damage and Kismet takes 2 more (Kismet [39], Talisman [6], Fanatic [2], Haka [15], Tempest [14]). I draw Sanctifying Strike and deck Holy Nova.

Use a Power: Base power against Kismet [37]

Draw a Card: [Holy Nova, Divine Focus] I deck Holy Nova and keep Divine Focus

End of Turn:

HP: 2

Hand: Final Dive, Holy Nova, Smite the Transgressor, Undaunted, Absolution, Sanctifying Strike, Divine Focus

In Play: Aegis of Resurrection

Deck: ?x16, End of Days, Final Dive, Absolution, Smite the Transgressor, Sacrosanct Martyr, Chastise, Chastise, Prayer of Desperation, Undaunted, Holy Nova, Holy Nova

Trash: Brutal Censure x2, Consecrated Ground, Embolden, End of Days

Obstruction only checks once per turn.  This time, Rift in Time is discarded.  (I have something of a problem with the fact that the bottoming-unwanted-draws rule renders the environment deck predictable in fairly short order, and thus deprives cards like Inconceivable of a lot of their surprise value.  There are only three unknown enviro cards left, so if Haka damages Kismet, there's a 1/3 chance of IO intercepting the damage, and if it does not, Tempest faces a 1/2 chance, and after that the entire enviro deck will be known so there are no surprises left from the card.  For the moment I'll just roll with it, but I might end up changing the original SCUverse rules to make these situations more interesting.)

I was wondering if anyone wants to take over 'cause I'm going to Jamaica and won't have my cards.

Odin, Luminos, I will put it to you...whenever you are sick of waiting, let me know, and I'll play a turn as Haka so we can move on.  If you're both patient, maybe XXVZ will get back from his trip and find the game is still ready for him.

I'm fine waiting a little, if someone else wants to join in I'm fine with that too.
