Just got the unlock, as with most folks, all bots, all full health, 3 person game: Grandpa, SST, Unity, Ambuscade, Mars.
I know for a fact that I never played Powered Shockwave, Hasty Augmentation, Flash Forge, or Inspired Repair, but I did play every other one-shot. I never played Scrap Metal from hand, but it did get Experimented into play. What changed between the previous turn and the unlock turn was that I played Contruction Pylon and Volatile Parts (already had Supply Crate and Modulator Workbench in play).
My last turn before getting the unlock was all three Supply Crates in play destroyed for card draw at Start of turn, then played a Supply Crate (trash reshuffled and I redrew one), Inspired Repair into Inspired Repair, into Robot Reclaimation. So, I didn't destroy any Equipment to play a bot (all were in play already by this point), but I also only played one from hand.
On the live stream John said that we were all making this too complicated. Given that AZ’s unlock seems to be mimicking his variant’s power. Could that not be the case with Unity and Bunker. In AZ’s case it appears to be a bit extreme. More than 10 damage taken, healed and delt. Could Unity not be something similar? An extreme mimicking of her power that we are somehow achieving.
The odd thing is when it triggers -- not when she plays a bot, or a bot is destroyed, or an equipment is played or destroyed. It triggers at the start of the villain turn.
So the formula has to be something like, "At the start of the villain turn, X must be true." In my case, it came after an equipment play, as her bots had already been in play the previous round.
I think it has to do with her equipment not only being played, but surviving. Maybe having a piece of equipment survive multiple rounds?
Something like Scrap Metal to remove a Bot from play, Robot Reclaimation (to mimic getting a bot from the trash), and draw [x] cards through things like destroying supply crates or via other one-shots?
Well, I'm stumped. No unlock. PW AA, Legacy, Wraith, Unity, vs Ambuscade in Freedom Tower. I stalled and stalled until Unity had drawn every card in her hand. She had every single piece of equipment out (3X Towers, 2X Workbench, 2X Volatile Parts, 2X Scrap Metal), and every bot except for 1 Platform Bot and 1 Bee Bot (which Scrap Metal made me put back in her hand). As best I could remember, I had gotten bots in the game using every means available (Tower, Workbench, Unity's inherent power, Scrap Metal, and AA's songs), and I think I had played every one of Unity's one-shots at least once. Yet, by the time I had accomplished all of this, it rolled into Ambuscade's villain turn and....no unlock.
Absent a Fixed Point or out-of-turn card play, it's impossible for Unity to have all equipment AND all bots in play at the beginning of the villain turn, right? Keeping Scrap Metal in play necessitates putting bots back in hand, or Scrap Metal itself gets destroyed.
Either way, I'm fairly confident that having ALL of Unity's equipment in play is not in and of itself sufficient for the unlock. Maybe like a couple of other people have said, it's some sort of variation of Termi-Nation Unity's power -- destroying and re-creating stuff? Maybe it's something along the lines of "In her turn, Unity must destroy X cards and play Y cards, then have Z cards/equipment/bots in play at the beginning of the villain turn"?
Not if you play Scrap Metal out of turn; that's what happened with me, Freedom Tower played it for me, then I got the unlock.

It's not necessary – again, I only had four cards in play (two crates, one Scrap Metal, one workbench).
Could it be as simple as having scrap metal played out of turn, or played and surviving without putting a bot back into hand? Did anyone unlock without Scrap Metal in play?
I can back this up. I've been running a game (Leg, Unity, Vis vs Ambuscade in FT) where I played nothing but her crates. No unlock. Then I put out her benches, pylons, the volatile explodey things (the name escapes me) and once the environment put a bee bot into play, I bounced it back with scrap to see if having that in play at the start of the villian turn mattered. No unlock.
Since they're in Wagner Base, then (C) playing in Freedom Tower isn't necessary. More importantly, though, I think it's proof that the "# of Unity equipments = # of villain cards in play" theory is incorrect:
Looking at Unity's picture in the lower right of the screenshot, she has 18 cards in play (12 cards in hand), but according to Dedlok, 15 of those cards are bots, which means Unity only has 3 Equipments in play. Ambuscade has 5 cards in play (6 if you count his character card), so I don't think the number of villain cards vis-a-vis Unity Equipments in play has anything to do with it.
But, perhaps it isn't " # of Unity's equipments = # of villain cards " but " # of ALL hero equipments = # of villain cards "? In the unlock screen shot, Unity has 3 equipments in play. Tachyon has three cards in play, one of which is (probably) the HUD Goggles, which would be 4 Equipments. Given Omni-X's deck, he probably has at least one Equipment in play, which would be 5 Equipments – the same number of cards that Ambuscade has in play. (Or if it's "total number of cards in villain play area," then Omni-X with 2 Equipments in play would equal 6 total hero Equipments.) That would also make the unlock condition susceptible to modification by Unity, since she can destroy hero equipments to even out the numbers if need be. So my new Theory #1 is:
Unity must be on the team. At the beginning of the villain turn, the number of hero Equipment cards in play must equal the total number of villain cards in play (or "cards in the villain's play area") (or maybe "villain targets in play"). (Note: This can't be the whole condition; it's too easy. But maybe it's in combination with a number of bots Unity must have in play, or that she must have played certain cards, or destroyed/repurposed a certain number of bots?)
Alternately, there's Dedlok's theory about putting all of Unity's bots in play and having them at max HP at the beginning of the villain's turn. I think we've disproved that Unity needs to have all of her bots in play; several people have unlocked without having all of the bots in play. But, what if, rather than all of her bots, there is a certain number of bots that need to be in play and at full HP at the beginning of the villain turn? Maybe something like:
Unity must be on the team. At the beginning of the villain turn, Unity must have more bots in play than the number of villain cards in play/villain targets in play/cards in the villain's play area, and all of the bots must be at full HP.
It's definitely not as simple as Unity having the same number of Equips in play as villain targets, if only because that's too easy: Many villains don't have targets, so all Unity would need to do is double-skip her first turn to unlock.
Also, I just tried it. (SS Tach, Omni-X, Unity - Ambuscade, Wagner Mars Base). Going into Ambuscade's turn, Unity had two Modular Workbenches in play, Ambuscade had two targets (the cloak and the launcher). If it's just "# of Unity equipments = # of Villain targets," there should have been an unlock.
Okay, I apologize for the length of this log, but it was something of a slog.
The last one-shot I played before the unlock was powered shock wave. I'm thinking the unlock hinges on it being played with a certain number of bots out.
Unity's equipment was far in excess of the number of things Ambuscade had out at any given time, so I'm fairly certain that's not a criteria.
If you want the pertinent data from the log, I suggest going to the end, and searching for 'wave'. I did play a second one to end the game, but the play before that was the last turn she had before the unlock.
