Yes, but Lifeline’s main drive is OblivAeon (Faultless specifically, but that falls under OblivAeon). And just as Harpy followed Matriarch, it would make since for Lifeline to be in a set after Deadline (which could be Cosmic Tales).
Yeah. Makes me wonder if Sky-Scraper is going to have the different size cards, or if she’s going to be more like Naturalist.
Alpha is definitely interesting. The loss of control bit having her do damage like an environment card is cool. Could be useful against, say, Omnitron, but less useful if she’s teamed up with Unity or Captain Cosmic. The full moon being a “suddenly” card is amusing, as full moons in werewolf stories seem to not follow any astronomical rules, and instead are “when would this be a bad thing?”
Agreed. Lifeline and Luminary are responses to OblivAeon, and only really show up then. I could see La Commodora being included in whatever set has the SouthWest Sentinels (if they still do the one-deck-four-heroes thing). And like Harpy it seems like Akash’Thriya shows up earlier in the comics than C&A initially assumed, so she’ll likely show up pre-O.
Alpha looks pretty neat. I was a little disappointed not to get a flavor text quote from Alpha 2000 in this reveal, just so we could find out how awful it was, but that’s really my only complaint (and we do find out that an Alpha 2000 promo will be happening at some point). And I’m super curious to find out what the creature is that we see on Attack of the Direwolf; it looks like nothing we’ve encountered before, and is really neat. (My headcanon, which is almost definitely wrong, is to call it Mokele-Mbembe until we know otherwise.)
Possible typo in the flavor text of Lupine Senses: “Bruce, you got an eye for scandal.” Unless she’s intentionally speaking in a slangy dialect, which is otherwise not apparent in this quote, that should probably say “you’ve” or “you have”. Might be hard to fit a correction in, in terms of both text box space and time until publication.
It’s an intentional dialect
you know this how?
Told in playtester discord by Christopher when he was asked.
Apex! Top Dog of this kennel. His DR if you’re weaker is a fun idea.
I am interested to see how the infighting among werewolves manifests on his flip side! Because right now the other werewolf cards only attack non-Villain targets.
I imagine it would be something like “if another werewolf attacks a hero target, redirect to Apex” or something, to represent the pack turning on him.
I love the look of Apex, it seems like he’ll be one of those villains you really have to consider your tactics with, exploiting HP totals to ensure maximum infighting (and balancing that against taking out wolves who are doing too much damage to the heroes).
It also makes me really intrigued to see what’s done with the DE Ennead - obviously their story isn’t as much about the infighting, but they’ve never been a particularly cohesive team, either.
Indeed. And, for that matter, what team villains will look like.
Houston, we have variants!
Loving Dark Watch Expat.
Yeah that is an insane lot of penetrating damage for a base power! No wonder it consumes ammo. But hey! Starting hand full of ammo would be extremely useful!!!
My thoughts:
- WHOSE CORKBOARD IS THAT?!
- Good grief, Haunted Fanatic starts at 10 HP
- I love them all
- Wait, exactly how many months are there between now and Rook City Renegades shipping out? I scoured the campaign page and I can’t find a fulfillment target date. Either I am blind, or they are wary of committing in the current logistics environment.
Current estimate is Jan 2023. Seen at the bottom of your chosen pledge.
The Ennead literally all pull their magic from a common pool which grows in power proportionate to their numbers; I’d call that pretty cohesive.
Who’s the black mechanic that’s a Kung Fu master and also blind? Black Fist! We can dig it!
Good question! We know of at least one paranoid conspiracy theorist who’d do something like that, but Ray Manta wouldn’t be that concerned with Dark Watch since they’re not robots. Or are they?
Well…hope you get a good starting hand. Talk about glass cannon…
Okay I love the look of all of these, but the Dark Watch variants are particularly great. Expat is going to absolutely destroy Infinitor, now, and Setback is even better at limiting the damage he does to his own side…but also, really irritating Kismet! I can’t wait to see how that shakes out!
